The best part about having friends in different places? Being able to visit them!
Last week I took a trip to visit my friend Melanie (of the amazing blog Headstands and Heels!) in one of my favorite cities. I stayed with her, her kind husband and two adorable dogs, for a mix of work and play, and in four days, we were able to cover a lot of ground.
Turns out Denver has even more wonderful things to do, eat, see, and experience than I’d realized! And that’s coming from someone who’s been going to Colorado at least once a year since she was old enough to be on skis. The different neighborhoods all have so much character, and I love that everything is relatively close to each other (about a 20 minute drive).
Here’s a list of the adventures we went on, all of which I’d recommend!
Babe’s Tea Room – This spot is an absolute must-visit, especially if you’re into Instagrammable things! For $35 a piece, we got high-tea, which was so fun! You get a whole tray with different kinds of sandwiches, pastries and treats, plus unlimited tea. We tried a few seasonal flavors, all of which were delicious.
Perdida Kitchen – Apparently this spot gets super packed at night, but we got in for lunch no problem! We started with the yucca fries and then I had fish tacos, which were incredible and also huge. You get a lot for your money, the service is fantastic, and the vibes are on point.
Mount Falcon Park – On my last day, we drove about 40 minutes from Denver to this gorgeous park up in the mountains! There were a ton of trails, which explains the two full parking lots! But despite all the people, the hike didn’t feel crowded at all, had so many incredible views, and cool spots to explore. I couldn’t recommend it more!
Washington Park – This is a neighborhood in Denver, but it’s also a huge park with the prettiest lake! Apparently it’s an amazing place to run, walk dogs, and even just explore. I mostly thought it was beautiful, and the perfect place to soak up perfect fall weather.
AIR Fit Denver – The one workout class I did was at AIR Fit (booked on Classpass) and it was such a blast! I know they have locations all over the US, but I really loved this particular studio because it had tons of light, was warm and welcoming. It was definitely challenging, but also fun, and I never felt out of place in class. Sometimes LA can be intimidating, but I like the non-pretentiousness of Denver!
Cru Wine Bar – We went for a girl’s dinner at this super cute spot and got wine flights, a charcuterie board, and a few other things. The wine flights were so fun and the food was also amazing – my favorite was the bread!
Third Culture Bakery – Since I’d never had mochi donuts before, Mel took me here to experience them! We both got iced matchas (creamy and fantastic) plus their mochi donuts and mochi muffins. I’ll admit, the muffins were more my style, though the donuts were also very good!
Machete Tacos – You can never have too many tacos, right? We got these to-go to enjoy while watching IT at home on the couch and they did not disappoint. They have a ton of different, unique flavors and the tortillas are different colors, which is fun! Get the guac, too.
Have you ever been to Denver?! It’s my goal to live there someday 🙂
