Dancing for Donuts | Keto Matcha Coconut Bliss Bites

I don’t know about you, but I am OBSESSED with matcha right now. I remember my college roommate and best friend used to rave about it (hi Sanaa!) and I never really understood why, but now it’s literally all I want! And if you follow me on Instagram, you also know how much I love green tea mochi…UGH, the best.

But! I wanted to create a healthier snack that gave me my matcha fix! When I tried to new Ancient Nutrition Keto Matcha mix that they sent over, I flipped out a little. This stuff is SO good and blends incredibly well – I seriously feel like I’m at a coffee shop drinking one of the $6 ones they all have😳 And no, I’m not getting paid to post this, I just really love it! This recipe is only 5 ingredients and it makes such a yummy snack or dessert to have on hand!

Dancing for Donuts | Keto Matcha Coconut Bliss Bites

Keto Matcha Coconut Bites

1 scoop Ancient Nutrition Keto Matcha (or 1 tbsp matcha powder)

2 tbsp maple syrup (I use the Brandless kind!)

6 tbsp almond flour

2 tbsp melted coconut butter/manna

1 1/2 cups unsweetened coconut flakes (I buy mine in bulk from Sprouts!)

Put all ingredients in a food processor or blender and pulse until fully combined. Roll into 1 inch balls and store in the fridge in an airtight container until ready to eat!

Tell me, do you guys like matcha flavored things?! I don’t even know why it’s so good…it’s kind of subtle but when it’s sweetened a little bit, it’s magical!! Let me know if you guys decide to try these😊

It flew by so quickly that I didn’t even have a chance to do a January Favorites post for you, so I apologize!

Recipes I’ve Recently Made & LOVED

Hey y’all! How’s everyone’s week going?!

Dancing for Donuts | Recipes I've Recently Made And Love

This is my first full week in LA as an entrepreneur and so far it’s been fantastic! It’s kind of crazy how much you can get done in a day, and how quickly time can fly. It’s almost February too, which is bonkers!!

I’ve actually been cooking up a storm over here, since I now have a bit more time and flexibility! While nothing is ever too crazy, there have been some notable recipes I’ve either followed or created. Since I’ve been catching up on work after Hawaii, I figured I’d throw everything in one blog post for you. Everything is shared below and honestly, I’m hungry just looking at it all again😍

Dancing for Donuts | Recipes I've Recently Made and LOVED

Sausage Pancake Muffins – I didn’t really follow much of a recipe on this one, but I did whip together a batch of Birch Benders pancake mix (as instructed), and then tossed in some Jones Dairy Farm pork sausage to bake in muffin cups at 350 degrees fahrenheit for about 15 minutes. Make these and then dip them in maple syrup. YOU’RE WELCOME.

Dancing for Donuts | Recipes I've Recently Made and LOVED

Ambitious Kitchen’s Corn Pasta Salad with Cashew Cilantro Pesto – Make this immediately. Trust me. And if you use Banza Chickpea Pasta (aka my favorite pasta of life) it’ll be packed with protein and fiber!

Dancing for Donuts | Recipes I've Recently Made and LOVED

Pinch of Yum’s Best Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies – Made these for a dinner party last weekend and MAN they were a hit. Definitely making them again veryyyy soon!

Dancing for Donuts | Recipes I've Recently Made and LOVED

Easy Raspberry Chia Jam – All you need to do to make this is heat up a few frozen raspberries in the microwave (I do about a quarter cup!), throw in about 1/2 tbsp chia seeds (ground or whole) and a sprinkle of coconut sugar. BOOM. 20 seconds later: chia jam!

Dancing for Donuts | Recipes I've Recently Made and LOVED

Vegan Cashew Cheese with Chickpea Pasta – So I didn’t fully follow a recipe for this one, but I did take a 1/2 cup soaked then drained cashews (in water for about 15 minutes), 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1/2 cup vegetable broth, 6 tbsp nutritional yeast, 2 gloves garlic, sea salt + peppa, and 2 tbsp brown or dijon mustard then blend it all up and voila! Creamy, dreamy vegan cheese 🙂

Dancing for Donuts | Recipes I've Recently Made and LOVED

Egg White Stovetop Oats – For this, I just took 1/2 cup of oats, 1/2 cup almond milk and 1/2 cup water, then stirred it together over the stove on medium for about 7 minutes. Once the liquid was almost completely absorbed, I took them off the heat, poured in an egg white and stirred veryyyy quickly so that it wouldn’t all cook together like an actual egg! This just adds some extra protein and a lotta fluff. Highly recommend!

Friday Finds

We’re are TOASTIN’ to Friday over here, my friends!

This week was…interesting to say the least, but very eventful in some of the best ways possible! I went to the Tone It Up Love Your Body Series launch event on Tuesday (yes, Karena and Katrina are two of the most beautiful and kind women on the planet!!), had some friends over for dinner (nothing beats ending the day in good company), and made some MAJOR life moves.

I have something super exciting coming for your guys on Monday, but in the meantime, I’ll just get back to sharing my Friday Finds since it’s been awhile! 🙂

5 Ways to Be Healthier Without Trying Too Hard – Because no one actually wants to try THAT hard, let’s be real.

Arm Song Workout – I love ALL of Nicole’s workout videos so much. This one is super short/not intimidating at all, so it’s nice for days you feel lazy or just need a little extra boost to your workout!

Winter Crunch Salad – Might even be able to get my boyfriend to eat this one…

More Single Women Own Homes More Than Single Men – WHO RUN THE WORLD.

The 24 Items From Trader Joe’s Our Office Swears By – Why am I so fascinated by what everyone else buys for groceries?

Meal Prep: A Week of Winter Meals in 2 Hours – I promise myself I will get back into meal prepping this year! I swear it saves money and soooo much time in the long run.

Why Monthly Resolutions Could *Finally* Help You Reach Your Goals – I love this!!! I stopped making real resolutions years ago. Monthly goals and intentions are where it’s at!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back on Monday for some exciting news!! Enjoy your weekend 🙂

S’mores Protein Granola

Oh man you guys, I wish you could’ve been in my kitchen to smell this one. It was heavenly!

Dancing for Donuts | S’mores Protein Granola

I felt like making something this past weekend when it was chilly (by LA standards) and rainy. We barely have any groceries, but I did have granola supplies!

I love making granola because you can customize the flavors completely and control exactly what’s in it! I’m also pretty sure it’s cheaper to make it then buy it, depending where you’re shopping!

This recipe is easy and tasty, smells delicious and is SO good on plain yogurt. If you don’t have this exact Ancient Nutrition S’mores Protein, I’d say use regular chocolate protein powder and then just throw some marshmallows in once the granola is completely cooled!

Dancing for Donuts | S’mores Protein Granola

S’mores Protein Granola

3 cups rolled oats

1 scoop Ancient Nutrition S’mores Bone Broth Protein

1/2 cup walnuts, almonds or cashews

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/2 cup coconut sugar

2/3 cup melted coconut oil (melted)

1/2 cup maple syrup

1 tsp vanilla (optional)

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips

sea salt and for finishing

1. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees fahrenheit and spray a baking sheet with coconut oil or line with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, toss together the oats, protein powder, nuts, cocoa powder, and coconut sugar. In a separate bowl, whisk together the coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla.

3. Pour the wet ingredients over the dry and stir to combine completely. Spread the oat mixture in an even layer on the baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes, stopping halfway through to stir.

4. After the 45 minutes, turn the oven off,  take the baking sheet out, add in the chocolate chips, and stir one more time. Pop in the oven for 5-10 more minutes (so the chocolate melts a little and clings to the oats!) and then remove.

5. Let cool completely (at least one hour), then store in an airtight container. Enjoy in a bowl with almond milk, over yogurt, in smoothies, or by the handful!

Dancing for Donuts | S’mores Protein Granola

Hope you all have a wonderful week!!!

Chocolate Almond Butter Protein Fudge

Dancing for Donuts | Chocolate Almond Butter Protein Fudge

I’m back today with quite possibly the easiest, tastiest chocolate recipe ever! I made this a few weeks ago and put the recipe on Instagram, but I wanted to share it here, as well😊

This recipe combines 6 ingredients to form insanely delicious discs of chocolate that are actually satisfying because of the protein, so the portion control is kind of built right in! I also used silicone baking cups, which I SWEAR by you guys, but you could also totally just use regular muffin cups, Dixie cups, or just make it in one big rectangle and crack into it to make a bark!

Chocolate Almond Butter Protein Fudge

1/8 cup coconut oil

1/8 cup + 1 tbsp coconut butter (or more coconut oil!)

2 tbsp cocoa powder

1/4 cup creamy almond butter <– use code ‘dancingfordonuts’ for 15% off!

1/4 cup chocolate protein powder (I used Tone It Up!)

1 tbsp maple syrup

1. In a microwave safe bowl, melt together the coconut oil and coconut butter.

2. Add the cocoa powder and stir well before adding the creamy nut butter, protein powder and maple syrup.

3. Once completely combined, spoon into silicone baking cups (I did about 1 tbsp each). Refrigerate at least 30 minutes before eating (or freeze for 15) and store in the refrigerator for up to a week!

Sorry for such a short post today!! Things have been busy over here with the holiday season, but I appreciate you sticking with me. Have a great rest of your week!!

DFD Babe Feature: Staness of Eat Like a Woman

It’s been WAY too long since our last DFD Babe Feature!!

Dancing for Donuts | DFD Babe Feature: Staness of Eat Like a Woman

I’m SO happy to be talking to Staness Jonekos of Eat Like a Woman on here today. I think you guys are really going to love this one – Staness is all about educating women on how their bodies are different then men’s in terms of health and diet. I actually had the pleasure of working with Staness a couple of years ago when she first launched her bars, shakes and cookies, and reconnecting with her has me so excited. You know how passionate I am about surrounding myself with smart, motivated women like herself!!

In this interview, we talk about how she got started with her Eat Like a Woman book that then became a plant-based nutrition line, why it’s so important that women understand how their needs are unique, and how female bodies are generally neglected from scientific research. You know I love every single person I interview for this series, but this one in particular is the perfect intersection of what I like to talk about on this blog (aka health and wellness!) + female entrepreneurship. Keep reading to learn more about Staness and her incredible company!

Tell us a little bit about Eat Like a Woman! What made you decide to write the original Eat Like a Woman book and then branch out into the food space?

During a TV show pitch session as one of the executive producers for Oprah Winfrey’s first TV network, Oxygen Media, she personally asked me how I was making a difference.  Health was always my passion and she knew there was something out there I should be doing. When Oprah speaks, you listen. I took a hiatus from television and wrote EAT LIKE A WOMAN after I discovered the FDA banned females from clinical research in 1977 until recently.

Women experience heart disease and stress differently than males, and burn carbs and fats differently, as well as metabolize nutrients at a slower rate.  This information inspired me to create a company that manufactures plant-based bars, cookies and shakes designed specially to support a women’s health.

I truly love that you’re educating women on how their bodies are different from men’s bodies! That’s not something discussed often. Can you give us a quick summary of what women should be paying attention to in terms of their unique health?

Women have very unique life stages (pregnancy/lactation, reproductive years, menopause and beyond) that require specific nutritional support.  Our Life Stage Shakes® honor these requirements, so we can achieve optimal health at each life stage. We all have a healthy weight, we are all different – focus on health, not size!  We are born with BILLIONS more fat cells than males. How we perceive fat in our society does not embrace health for a woman.

Of course, staying at your healthy weight is important – too much fat isn’t good either, but those curves are there for a reason. Carbs are not bad! In fact, a female’s neurotransmitter health benefits from a balance between protein and carbs.  High protein diets are not the best fit for females. You may drop some weight quickly, but one can get cranky and those pounds will return when the carbs do. The Mediterranean’s figured it out…lean proteins, lots of veggies, grains, olive oil, and some RED WINE!

What’s your favorite part of owning & running Eat Like a Woman?

Discovering new science that included females so we can apply it to our daily life is one of my favorite Eat Like a Woman duties, and creating food products that harness this info so we can achieve optimal health as a woman! Every day I am spreading the word that differences matter, so the new science can help each of us. Medical text books still do not have this new research, so I am committed to sharing it with women so they can demand that future research include women.

And what’s your least favorite part?

There are a million details to launching a food business – operations, financing, legal,  managing three warehouses, three co-packers where we manufacture our bars, cookies and shakes, a law firm to protect our intellectual property and ensure we follow all of the FDA regulations, raising money so the company grows so we can met our costumers demands, and seeking out new distribution channels.  Until recently I personally handled all of these activities, now we have an amazing team that has joined the ELAW family!

Dancing for Donuts | DFD Babe Feature: Staness of Eat Like a Woman

If you had to pick one piece of advice to give to others pursuing their passions, what would it be?

Ask yourself “what do I do every day that I love?” For me, I love to KNOW things.  Researching and writing is like breathing…I have no choice. When I was 6 years old, I found my Mom’s nursing/medical text book and studied every word.  Local kids would come over when they were sick and ask me what was wrong with them—so I started diagnosing my friends. It made perfect sense to write books and launch a disruptive business that can change how we think about nutrition.

Ask yourself: What do YOU do for free daily, because you love it?  When you can answer that question you have found your purpose in life – how YOU will make a difference.  The exact question Oprah asked me years ago.

How do you prioritize time for yourself when you’re super busy with your business? Do you have any de-stressing techniques or self-care routines you can share?

I must confess, launching a start-up is super time consuming.  I need to work on making time for myself and finding balance. The answer – we must all make time for ourselves, me too. De-stressing and self-care is a work in progress for me.  That said, I think ALL women have the same struggle.

What are you excited for in the new year? Are you making any resolutions/goals?

We are officially launching Eat Like a Woman nationally next year. I can’t wait to get out there and share powerful information, and yummy plant-based snacks, that can help women achieve their optimal health. Women have a very different eating journey than men…from body image, to nourishing different life stages, to media pressure to look a certain way…it is time we embrace our differences.  We are ALL EQUAL, but our differences make each of us uniquely beautiful.

Alright y’all, thanks for reading!! Hope you have a fantastic weekend and if you’re in the northeast or anywhere that got snow yesterday/today, stay warm!

Pumpkin Protein Muffins

A new week calls for a new recipe!

Dancing for Donuts | Pumpkin Protein Muffins

This is one I know you’ll love because my boyfriend told me it was a winner😏 I made these Pumpkin Protein Muffins last week because my desire to bake on the daily is in FULL force. I figure, okay so my metabolism and activity level is far lower than they used to be, but I also love food… SO! The resolutions to this are a) exercise better portion control and b) bake things that are better for me. Luckily these muffins don’t taste healthy in the least, though!

Some ways I like to make my treats a touch healthier include using less oil/butter (and subbing in pumpkin/banana instead), using healthier sugar alternatives or less of them altogether (ie. maple syrup, stevia, monk fruit, banana), and adding in some protein for staying power. This recipe does all three!

I actually subbed out part of the flour in this recipe with my Eat Like a Woman Very Vanilla Shake, which is one of my favorite protein powders!! This line was developed with women’s bodies in mind (since our bodies process food and nutrients SO differently!), so this powder has probiotics, plant-based protein (which we absorb more easily), 22 vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and omega 3’s. I promise you I’m not getting paid to post about this, I just truly love it!

With this protein powder, vitamin & fiber rich pumpkin, protein packed greek yogurt and almond flour, and only 2 tablespoons of sweetener, you’ll feel good about snacking on these for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even dessert😊

Dancing for Donuts | Pumpkin Protein Muffins

Pumpkin Protein Muffins

1 cup pumpkin purée

1/2 cup plain greek yogurt (I used 2% fat)

1 egg

1 medium ripe banana, mashed

2 tbsp maple syrup

1 cup oat flour or whole wheat flour

1/2 cup almond flour

1/2 cup ELAW Very Vanilla Life Stage Shake (or your favorite protein powder!)

1 1/2 tbsp pumpkin pie spice

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1-2 pinches of sea salt

cacao nibs (optional)

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

2. In a large bowl, combine all the wet ingredients including the pumpkin, egg, greek yogurt, maple syrup and banana.

3. In a small bowl, stir together the dry ingredients including the flours, protein powder, spices, sea salt and baking powder.

4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and fold until completely combined. Do not overmix 🙂

5. Using a spoon, fill silicone muffin liners (these are my favorite!) or a greased muffin tin 3/4 of the way full. Top each muffin with cacao nibs if desired. Bake for 20 minutes or until firm to the touch.

Store in the fridge for up to 5 days!

That’s it for today, loves! Thank you so much for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful week!

October Favorites

Woah baby, it’s already November! It’s like I blinked and another month went by😳

Dancing for Donuts | October Favorites

October was honestly a pretty fun month for me – I finally stopped traveling, got settled into work, a fitness routine, caught up with friends, went on some adventures, and most importantly – tried some really freakin’ good food.

I’ll just jump into it since I’m already a day late to posting this, but here are all the things I’ve been loving from food to fitness and fashion!

Dancing for Donuts | October Favorites

Live Pure Smoothie Cubes – Guys, this product might be the coolest thing I’ve seen or used in a WHILE. I used these superfood cubes to make the smoothie up in that top picture (I mixed their PB & J cubes with the Pitaya Protein cubes!) and then topped it off with the Live Pure granola. Seriously obsessed. There are a ton of flavors (that all contain probiotics), but what’s even cooler is that you can mix them all up to make even more. They give you a little guide when you order! I can’t wait to try the rest😍 If you guys want to see what the hype is about, you can use LivepureJordan to get 15% off!

Dancing for Donuts | October Favorites

Health Warrior Protein Mug Muffin – Another product that kind of blew me away this month was these protein mug muffins!! I haven’t ever tried anything else from Health Warrior, but I’ve heard good things and these did not disappoint. I don’t know about you, but I used to make all kinds of mug cakes in my early 20’s (#desperatefordessert) and these are 10x easier and better for you. The flavor is delicious and they just require you to add water + microwave. Such a great idea for a pre or post-workout snack, or even dessert!

Dancing for Donuts | October Favorites

Daily Harvest Mint Cacao & Carrot Chia Smoothies – Okay after seeing this brand ALL over my Instagram, I was seriously so happy when they reached out to me so I could finally try it for myself! I wasn’t sure what to expect, or if the hype was even real, but WOW you guys. I’ve honestly loved every flavor, but the Mint Cacao and Carrot Chia are legit incredible. I added some extra greens and protein powder to mine, but they’re amazing on their own. At the risk of sounding like a broken record with these codes, I legitimately just want you guys to be able to save money if you want to! You can use ‘JORDAN3’ at checkout to get your first 3 cups free 🙂

Cotton On Donut Slippers (pictured up top!) – I couldn’t not add these to my list! I bought them earlier this month after a friend sent me a screen shot and I love them SO much. I honestly just love slippers in general, but DONUT slippers?! HECK YES. P.s. They’re literally $10…you gotta do it if you’re a donut lover like me.

Dancing for Donuts | October Favorites

New Balance Fresh Foam Cruz – I finally bought myself a pair of new sneakers after having holes in my others for months and doing way too much research on what to get🤣 I love these because they’re super light, SO comfortable, and they go with everything. Might buy them again in another color!

305 Fitness – The workout class my friends have been raving about in NYC is finally in LA!!!!!! I couldn’t tell you how excited I was when I realized they were here – they don’t have their own studio, but they teach classes out of a gym in West Hollywood and now I literally don’t want to do any other workout. It’s basically a super fun, intense dance cardio class with a live DJ and fun lights!! It’s exhausting af, but such a blast, which is the best way to get your sweat on, in my opinion!

IMG_3800

Fonuts – I know this place is exclusively in West Hollywood in LA, but I couldn’t not include it! I’ve been a fan of them forever (these donuts are baked and completely gluten-free – most of them are vegan, too!), but I fell more in love with them earlier this month when I got to meet the owners at their re-launch party. They are SO nice and you know I have a soft spot for kind and motivated entrepreneurs. If you’re ever in LA, please of please try these donuts, they’re my favorite in this whole city!

Dancing for Donuts | October Favorites

Joe & The Juice Coconut Yogurt + Granola (The Natural Born) – So Joe & the Juice is all over the country and even in Europe, but I apologize if you don’t have one near you because their new coconut yogurt and granola is actually the most ridiculous thing I tried all month. Swear. It’s like…super rich and creamy and kind of tastes like dessert but it’s also packed with nutrients. Their granola was to die for, too! I’ve only been there once since it’s not super close to me, but I am counting the minutes til I can go back – their juices sounded amazing, too!

Alright y’all, that is IT! I hope I didn’t bore you – let me know if you had any favorites from the month or if you’d try any of mine!! Have a very happy November 💜
