Tea-Time.

So I may or may not be obsessed with tea…

I was raised watching my mom have a cup of tea every night with a touch of milk and sweetener (like the British!), so it’s only natural that I grew up to have a tea collection the size of Southern California. I love that there are so many different kinds to choose from, that it keeps you warm, and especially because it gives me something to consume when I’m trying not to snack my face off. Plus tea has a ridiculous amount of health benefits like that it helps to prevent certain diseases, relaxes the mind, and is good for the heart!

Green tea: Its antioxidants may prevent several types of cancer and clogging of the arteries as well as burn fat, counteract stress on the brain and improve cholesterol levels. My favorite way to drink green tea is plain or with a touch of honey and lemon!

Black tea: It may reduce the risk of stroke and protect lungs from damage. Plus it has the highest caffeine content (which has its own set of benefits like improved workouts and alertness!). I personally like this type best with some non-fat or almond milk and a bit of stevia.

White tea: Uncured and unfermented, it has been shown to have the most potent anticancer properties. I find this tea to be light and refreshing, and even best over ice.

Herbal: Though they have lower concentrations of antioxidants than other types of teas, they may help shed pounds, stave off colds and bring on restful nights of sleep! I don’t personally love the flavor of chamomile, but I definitely went through a phase where I had a cup before bed each night to help me sleep.

Drink up, friends! And have a fantastic holiday weekend 🙂
