Life Update + August Favorites

Hi from the East Coast!!!

August Favorites | Dancing for Donuts

I’ve actually been here for about a week and a half, but it feels like we just got here! Alex, Ovi and I flew into New York as safely as possible (pro tip: if you have the means, splurge for first class so you’re away from others, have a less trafficked bathroom, and board last! It was so affordable compared to pre-COVID, I promise!). We wore face shields, masks (obviously), had gloves, wipes, and a ton of sanitizer!

We are here for one month total – first in New York, then driving to North Carolina to socially distance at our beach house, then to Washington DC to see Alex’s family and social distance there, as well! These are strange times we’re living in, but I’m so grateful we are able to be with loved ones and work from anywhere.

I was especially glad to be here because I celebrated a birthday with my parents for the first time in a decade!!! I turned 31 last Tuesday and though it was very mellow, it was also very lovely 🙂 We got takeout from my favorite Italian restaurant and my mom made an incredible funfetti cake from Sally’s Baking Addiction!

We’ve also gone on some pretty beautiful hikes, spent time with good friends (outdoors and distanced!), ate a TON of great food, and spent every minute possible outside by the pool.

Aside from that, I’m honestly just in awe that tomorrow is September already, beyond happy to be here, and excited for the next few weeks! Alex is going to have to pull me on the plane to get me back to the west coast…lol

And now, for some August favorites!!!

Skinny Dipped Cashews Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel – If I had to choose one dessert this year that blew me away, it would be these. I’m not even kidding, I loved them so much I *actually* rationed them and followed the serving size so I wouldn’t finish them too quickly…that’s how you know!

Sourse Collagen Bites – The health food industry continues to amaze me!! These little dark chocolate covered bites literally taste like nothing but heaven but somehow have collagen in them! The only complaint I have is that the serving size is only 2 pieces, and I wish I could eat about 10.

Gratisfied Empower Cacao Energy Bar – You guys know I am such a bar girl, but I’m picky because I’ve tried them ALL. These bars honestly blew me away and the cacao one in particular tasted like a straight up brownie. They’re gluten free and made with super clean ingredients!

Peanut Butter Iced Coffees – I was making these back home in LA in the afternoon for a little pick me up and they’re SO GOOD. I just add coffee, a bit of my favorite milk, monkfruit, ice and powdered peanut butter into my BlendJet and it makes the frothiest healthy treat!

Birch Benders Pancake Muffins – Before I left for the east coast, I met up with a couple friends at the beach and brought these for lunch! The full recipe is on my Instagram, but they’re so simple and the base is my favorite pancake mix. I added raspberries and chocolate chips, but you could add anything!

Brooklinen Waffle Robe – I have been living in this robe since I’ve been home, it’s literally like those robes you get at 5-star resort spas and I’m obsessed. If it were acceptable to wear in public I would never take it off. The code jordan20 saves you $20 on orders of $50+!

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream – I got this as my Sephora birthday reward and I’m OBSESSED. The scent is truly insane (I got served an ad and apparently they now have perfume?! Need.) and though it’s a bit pricey, I might have to splurge for it once these tiny tubs are done.

Pacifica Beauty Mattify and Protect Daily Priming Lotion SPF 35 – For the summer of face masks (and maskne), this lotion has been a life saver. I have acne prone skin, so layering on a ton of products isn’t great for me. I just use this lotion after my cleanser and serum, and it covers all the bases!

And that’s it for August, y’all! I hope you had a great month and that September is even better 🙂 Be back again soon!
