How cute are these lil succulents that my co-worker and I made?! We ventured to this cute flower shop called Sweet Blooms Atelier down in Hermosa Beach and I want to live there so badly!!!

Anyhoo, I apologize for taking a mini break this week, it’s been a bit hectic since I’m actually wrapping things up at my current job and randomly got super sick on Tuesday. Luckily I don’t think I have that nasty flu going around, so that’s a plus!!! And I’m fully aware that I’ve been saying this for weeks, but I DO have lots of stuff coming for you guys, and since I actually do have free time next week, you can expect that very soon! I’ve heard so many people saying that this month has totally dragged on for them, but for me it actually went by kind of quickly! Lots of movement, lots of change. It’s been exciting and stressful and interesting! Promise I will share more details very, very soon😉

This month was full of trying new products in everything from my diet to my beauty regimen and my fitness routine. I found some reallyyyyyy awesome things that have really helped me stay on track with my goals across the board and I know you’ll love them, too! Some of these items were gifts from the holidays, and some I just came across, but everything is linked so that you can find them. And now, in no particular order, my January favorites!…

Food:

Simple Mills Rosemary & Sea Salt Crackers – After seeing Simple Mills products alllll over my Insta-feed, I finally got my hands on some of these bad boys (they were on sale at Sprouts, #BlessUp). The big draw is that these are gluten-free, soy-free, and dairy free, although y’all know I’m not actually restrictive with my diet. I will say though that there’s just more nutritional value to crackers made with almond flour and honestly these crackers are just REALLY good. I ate the whole box in an hour, so that should tell you something😅

Trader Joe’s Soyrizo – GUYS. guys. Ok so I saw these written up somewhere as one of Trader Joe’s best selling products of 2017, so I decided to try using them in homemade burrito bowls for dinner one night. Full disclosure – I actually didn’t even tell my boyfriend it was vegan, and he totally loved it. The flavor is insane! And it’s really easy to make, too. I can’t wait to get it again and maybe at it to a scramble or some nachos!!

Fitness Bread – If I had to pick one thing from January that I was obsessed with, it would be this bread (pictured above as the avocado toast!). It’s by a German brand called Mestemacher and I remember my mom eating this when I was little. It’s made of rye flour, wheat germ, and oat fiber making it cholesterol free and high fiber. Each piece is thinly sliced, pretty dense, and a bit nutty. Aside from the fact that it’s got more nutritional value than many other breads, I seriously just think it tastes amazing. I’ve been seeing a lot of bloggers talking about gg crackers, and I’m not sure what the consistency of those is, but these are sooooo much cheaper. I found mine at Sprouts for like $4, but I’ve linked them here on Amazon too in case you don’t have one of those near you! I hiiiiighly recommend making your avocado toast with this. You can thank me later…

Wellness:

Garden of Life Women’s Multivitamin Gummies – If you saw my vlog, you’ll know that I take these every👏single👏day👏 I am obsessed. They taste really good, and are kind of like a little sweet treat, so that’s most likely why I like them so much #LetsBeReal…but they’re also filled with all kind of nutrients we need and may not be getting from our food. I’ve mentioned Garden of Life on my blog before, but I seriously love this brand. They make high quality proteins, supplements and bars and everything is vegan, which is always a plus!

Hair, Skin and Nails Gummies – Another one I mentioned in the blog, I’ve been taking these gummies for years. My nails are super brittle for some reason so I’ll take these in addition to the mulitivitamin above. Since the multivitamin I take contains 100% of the suggested daily value, and two of the Hair, Skin and Nails Gummies is like 1000%, I’ll just take one. That way I’m getting extra biotin without causing my body to overproduce oil (hellooooo breakouts). Just check whichever vitamins you take to see the percentage, but make sure you get enough biotin without it being too much!

Fitness:

Booty Bands – My brother bought me these for Christmas after I kept seeing booty band workouts on YouTube and I’m in LOVE. These are so great for glute activation before a workout, or even just a booty band workout in itself! I’m really trying to work on my tush before summer (it’s one of those areas I’m just overly self-conscious about for no reason) so having the bands for extra resistance allows me to work them a bit harder. I promise I’ll put a workout with these up soon! Don’t let me forget…

Ab Gliders – So these were also part of that same holiday gift, and I also think they’re an essential for any home gym! You can put your feet or hands on them, and they work on any kind of floor since they just slide along. If you’ve ever used a pilates reformer, it’s kind of the same sensation in that you really have to engage your muscles so that you’re not just sliding all over the place. These prove that you don’t need any fancy equipment to work your core (or anything) else, though!

Beauty:

OleHenriksen Banana Bright Undereye Cream – Full transparency on this one, I received this as a free sample so I didn’t necessarily have high hopes, but I am looooooving this cream. I’m not sure if it really brightens the undereye so much as makes it hydrated and smooth, so it’s a perfect base for concealer (a must for actually looking like I get enough sleep!).  I think my favorite part of this product is just the fact that it makes me feel like I have a real skincare routine now – something I never had before and feel is increasingly necessary as I get older! It has vitamin c in it, which is apparently very good for the skin, so I’ll take it!

Aesop Hand Cream – This was a gift from my coworker and oh MAN does it make me feel fancy! I know this one isn’t cheap, so I’m extra thankful it was given to me (thanks Shane!) because it is sooo luxurious. If you read my post on my focus words for 2018, you know I’m trying to focus more on loving myself, which essentially means splurging on the things that make me feel good. Bath and body products are 100% included in this because can you honestly tell me anything better than a hot shower at the end of the day that makes you feel like you’re at a spa? So yeah, putting this hand cream on after that shower makes me feel like a straight up QUEEN and I highly recommend it!

Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser – I don’t know about you, but I have been maaaaajorly struggling with my skin these days. I wouldn’t call it adult acne necessarily, but it’s not that far off and as someone who didn’t really have acne before, it makes me super frustrated and self-conscious. I’ve tried a ton of cleansers in the last year and the only one that seems to make my skin feel really clear is this one. I’ve been using it for about two weeks now and love it so much. It’s slightly more expensive than other cleansers, but definitely cheaper than many and it comes in a huge bottle. I think it’s SO worth it if you’re having trouble finding something that works for you!

MAN this week was a long one! I’m super looking forward to having some me-time this weekend…anyone else?! I’ve been seeing people taking baths with those gorgeous and colorful Lush bath bombs a lot lately, which may be good motivation to clean my tub and then hop in there! I’ve never tried using one, but they seem glorious.

I don’t know why, but this week not only felt long, but kind of hard to get through, and not even because work has been overly stressful or anything. I think after the holidays I have a bit of a slump, just because the excitement of Christmas is obviously gone and there’s not much on the horizon. I kid you not, I literally looked up last-minute tickets for a Hawaii getaway at the end of the month randomly during my lunch on Tuesday…who knows if I’ll actually pull the trigger but it sounded SO lovely in the moment!

Anyway, back to the usj! Here’s what I’ve been reading this week:

I definitely did, but also somehow been unbelievably sick with a cold (and possibly sinus infection?) for a week now, so I had planned on blogging earlier this week and then plans got derailed! My apologies. Either way, I’m back today with another roundup of my favorite foodie finds from the month of November. And friends, it has been a good one.

GT’s Living in Gratitude Kombucha – So I know this one isn’t totally fair to post since I’m not actually sure if this flavor is available everywhere, but I felt like I needed to include it because not only was it one of my favorite drinks from this month (obviously), but for every photo of the bottle posted to social with the hashtag #LivingInGratitude, GT’s donates 10 meals to those in need via Feeding America. I think that’s super freakin’ cool guys, but also, it honestly just tastes amazing – not as sweet as apple cider, but definitely hints of that flavor, plus warm & cozy spices. SO good!

Further Food Collagen Peptides – So full disclosure, I took biotin supplements for years and still do on days I don’t have collagen, but I will tell you, this stuff is soooo much better than that. Wild Friends Gingerbread Peanut Butter Blend – GUYS. guys. I cannot stress enough how unbelievably EPIC this nut butter is. I literally didn’t want to have more than 2 tbsp on any given day because I was so afraid to hit the bottom of the container and that is saying a LOT. I generally go through peanut butter faster than you can say Christmas. But seriously, this stuff is winter in a jar, slightly sweet but so, so perfect. I put it on top of pancakes, yogurt, bananas, oatmeal…UGH. I actually miss it as I’m talking about it, so I think I’ll go buy another jar tomorrow…

Lantana Foods Beet Hummus (up there in pink!^) – I’m not going to lie to you, I originally bought this stuff because it was just so dang gorgeous. Like okay, I’m one of those people that thinks food tastes even better when it looks good, y’know? But the taste of this stuff 100% lives up to its looks because I’ve been adding it to every grain bowl and salad in site and it has been delicious. I got mine at Sprouts along with the Sriracha Carrot kind (also amazing!!) but I want to try their other flavors, too! Hummus is the BEST.

Moon Deli Golden Turmeric – So if you haven’t seen Moon Deli floating around the wellness world yet, let me be the first to tell you that their powders are incredible. I have a few of their tonics, but the turmeric powder has made it especially easy to make those beautiful & tasty golden milk lattes that are all the rage these days. I simply add one teaspoon to a mug that’s filled with half hot water and half hot almond milk, plus a touch of stevia. It’s one of those things I just feel good drinking. And it goes back to my earlier point in that it’s easy on the eyes, too😉

Wanu Water –  Hydration is unbelievably important to me (and admittedly not something I thought about until a few years ago, if I’m being honest!). I’m super conscious of having water by my desk always and drinking plenty before/during/after workouts. That being said, something plain ol’ water gets kind of boring…to me, at least. I avoid sugary drinks like artificially flavored waters or teas just because I know they have absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever, so when I find an alternative that’s flavorful but also is good for my body, I am IN. I’ve been absolutely loving wanu water since it’s infused with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and even fiber. It’s also sweetened with stevia and monk fruit without being sickly sweet like so many drinks out there! My favorite flavors are Kiwi Cucumber and Strawberry Serrano Lime. SO good, y’all!!

FitJoy Protein Bars – Ok so I tried one of these after a free fitness class at Athleta where they just had them sitting on the counter for free, so like…of course I took one. You know me, I loooooove bars, but because I’ve had so many, I’m a tad critical. After literally one bite of this Birthday Cake one, I was in LOVE. I wasn’t even going to have the entire thing at first, just a nibble, but it was so freakin’ tasty I couldn’t stop. It was the perfect texture, a bit crunchy but also smooth and not too sweet but the flavor was on point! Not artificial tasting or anything like that. Highly recommended!!

Kiwami Greens – I’m not sure if you caught my post on Kiwami last week, but I’m kind of obsessed. I’ve been having one of these packets with almond milk (or in a smoothie) almost every single afternoon as a little pick me up since it’s got matcha and greens, PLUS it actually tastes good. That’s a win in my book!

Justin’s Single Serving Nut Butter Packs – Are you sensing a trend here? I’m kind of in love with any healthy snacks I can bring in my lunch bag. I found these packs on sale this week (I honestly can’t remember where…maybe Ralph’s?) and picked out three different flavors. If I’m being totally honest, I’ve been eating the nut butter straight out of the pack like a complete savage, like not even putting it on fruit or anything, so I’m sure that’s quite a sight. Good think I don’t share an office with anyone most days…haha. The vanilla and maple almond butter packs are my favorite so far!

Nekter Skinny Turmeric Lemonade – If you don’t have a Nekter juice bar near you then I’m sorry for this, but I think their turmeric lemonade may be the most delicious drink I’ve had in quite awhile, not to mention that I actually felt good about myself while I was drinking it. It’s got just a hint of the turmeric flavor, so nothing too overpowering, and a ton of lemon. It was slightly sweet, but just enough to cut the sourness of the lemons. I’m seriously trying to figure out a way to make this stuff at home. It was to die for!

GoMacro Bars – I know, I know, another stinkin’ bar. I can’t help it! I like to try them all and these were on sale at Whole Foods (you know if I see a sale sign I cannot resist!). I tried both of these flavors and was amazed at how good they tasted. I love that they’re a touch moist (overly dry bars are gross, right?!) but also crunchy. I think what I love about these, aside from the amazing flavor, is that they actually kept me full for more than just an hour or so. Even though the bar itself isn’t huge, it’s bigger than many others and is packed with superfoods that satisfy hunger but also provide healthy fuel. Can’t wait to try the other flavors they have!

I’m in the middle of move, while partially staying with my cousin in West Hollywood, working on a ton of blog content for you guys, getting ready to celebrate my birthday, and go on vacation. And let me tell you, that vacation could not come at a better time! I seriously think reading blogs is one of my favorite ways to de-stress, though. It kind of always has been 🙂 Here’s what I’ve been reading this week…

Hi Beautiful People!

I’m so sorry I haven’t posted a recipe in awhile, I have been traveling on the weekends and short on time, so the meals I’m prepping for the week have been pretty bland! Think basic quinoa with a bunch of raw veggies topped with 2 huge spoonfuls of hummus (yep, that’s been my lunch every. single. day). I promise I’ll be back next week with a new recipe (the carrot cookies most likely, since everyone has been requesting those!), but in the meantime I’m back with my usual Friday Finds from Chicago! I’m here for my very first music festival and am slightly nervous but also very, very excited. Let me know if you’ll be there, too!

What Our Nutritionist Eats in a Week – Totally stealing some of these ideas like the chocolate almond butter overnight oats and jicama sticks for a snack!

July Favorites.

I swear I say this every month, but where the F is time going?!

I mean literally, this year has flown by, I feel like I’ve barely blinked and tomorrow is August already. Although I will admit, I was going through my photos on the plane back from Napa this weekend (aka my favorite thing to do when I don’t have wifi) and I’ve done a looooot this year already! Like way more traveling and adventuring than I’ve ever done in years past, and that makes me feel better about 2017 being more than half over. Okay anyway, here’s what I’ve found and loved this past month:

Perfect Bar– Ok so I finally tried one of these bad boys! I had to run into Whole Foods (which I never do) and had to splurge for one because I’ve been seeing them everywhere and have only heard good things. I went for the Maple Almond and it was so. friggin’. tasty. 13g of protein + superfoods + gluten-free + real ingredients?! I mean hello, this is a no-brainer. The hype is real because this thing legitimately kept me full unlike most other bars. Granted, it has more calories and costs more so I would hope it would be more of a hefty snack, but yeah. Cannot wait to try the other flavors!

Suja Probiotic Juice Drink – So there was one Sunday that I literally ran around like a crazy person in the heat and then decided to go for a 3 mile walk before work and was therefore insaaanely dehydrated. I wanted kombucha, but found this instead and it was suuuuper yummy! I think it was on sale (2 for $5) so I figured why not, and I’m so glad I tried it. It tasted like a juice and was really refreshing, plus it had probiotics, which I like to have every single day. It didn’t have a vinegar-y taste like kombucha does, though (which I thought was a good thing!).

Pressed Juicery Freeze – This was another thing I was absolutely dying to try after seeing it all over the food-blogging world! I got some on National Ice Cream Day because I was trying to bounce back from a few indulgent days and it was absolutely delicious. So creamy and flavorful, but also really light! I added cacao nibs, strawberries and coconut on top of the vanilla bean, which is made out of their vanilla almond milk, and I was obsessed. The only downside is that this cup cost $6, but hey, #yolo.

Carrot Cake Cookies – I found a healthy breakfast cookie recipe on Pinterest a few weeks ago, and tweaked it to make it even healthier! That didn’t take away any flavor though, these cookies were so good!! They’re basically oats, applesauce, carrots and maple syrup, plus a few other superfoods, so they were pretty dense. I would have a couple each afternoon and they were the perfect pre-workout snack! I love things that are slightly sweet without actually having a crap ton of sugar in them, since I like to have something sweet pretty much after every meal. Alkani Cold Brew Maker – I think I may have saved the best for last because this thing is a GAME. CHANGER. Alkani sent me their cold brew maker a few weeks ago and it has been actual heaven each morning when a) my coffee is already made b) it’s cold and c) it’s delicious. All you have to do is put a cup (or so) of fresh coffee grounds in the metal strainer in the middle, wait 24 hours and boom done. The coffee it makes is so smooth and I love the design of it, too!
