How to Turn Your Favorite Cereal into a “Krispy Treat”

What better way to kick off a new week than with dessert and rainbow sprinkles?!

How to Turn Your Favorite Cereal into a "Krispy Treat"

I so vividly remember *always* choosing Rice Krispy Treats any time I was at a vending machine in High School or College!! For some reason I convinced myself they were the “healthiest” of all the things in there…I have no idea if that’s true or not, but I do know they were the tastiest hit-the-spot treat (and more satisfying than a bag of chips). Good news: they still are! And so dang easy to make.

Since I’ve recently developed an obsession with rainbow sprinkles in the Q, I figured why not make some Funfetti “Krispy Treats!” Now you definitely don’t need sprinkles of any variety or the birthday cake Magic Spoon Cereal I used to make these, but they were delicious! I also like Magic Spoon because it’s got protein/less sugar and carbs, but the reality is that these can be made with ANY cereal, and I’m already plotting other flavor combos 🙂 All you need is a 3 ingredients, a large pot and a baking pan!

Cereal “Krispy Treats”

5 cups of your favorite cereal(s) – I used Bday Cake Magic Spoon (code DANCINGFORDONUTS for Free Shipping) + TJ’s Rice Crisp Cereal

1 10oz or 10.5 oz. bag of marshmallows – I used these vegan Dandies

1/4 cup coconut oil

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, add the marshmallows and coconut oil and stir constantly until completely melted together and smooth. *This step is important otherwise they’ll burn!
  2. Add the cereal and fold in until all the cereal is coated in the marshmallow mixture.
  3. Pour into a greased or parchment-lined baking pan (I used a couple loaf pans and it was perfect!) and press down into an even layer. If you decide to use sprinkles, add them here and press them down, too!
  4. Let cool for at least one hour before cutting into squares and digging in. Store in an airtight container.

And that’s IT. So easy, so yummy, and totally customizable to your taste buds? What variety should I do next?!
