Friday Finds: Earth Day Edition!

Happy (almost) Earth Day, sweet friends!!!!!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds: Earth Day Edition!

I’m taking this special Friday to do a sustainability-focused edition of my usual link roundup because I think something I don’t do enough on here is talk about how important I think it is to treat our planet with love. It’s scary to me to think about all of the extreme weather that keeps happening, the droughts in California, and the lack of resources around the world. That being said, we can’t change it all in one day, but we can make wise choices every single day to make this world a better place!

I don’t know about you, but I’m going to be spending part of my weekend frolicking in a giant flower field near San Diego (SO PUMPED), walking by the beach, and buying some herbs for an herb garden. I want to do my best to eat a vegetarian diet this weekend, just because every little bit helps, cut back on my energy use (that’s a permanent goal, actually) and take a moment to admire all this earth has to offer. Next year I definitely want to sign up for a beach clean-up or volunteer program, that’s for sure!

And now, onto the good stuff?

13 Products That Make it Easier to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – These are all SO awesome. I use stainless steel straws and I love them, but I definitely need to get some of those bees wraps and makeup remover wipes!! Who else goes through 67 cotton balls a week? No bueno…

16 Sustainable Beauty Products Byrdie Editors Always Buy at the Drugstore – I’m always on the hunt for green beauty that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Has anyone tried the new Burt’s Bees makeup? I’m dying to!

How to Spring Clean Your Home the Non-Toxic Way – Yep, definitely need to chill with the sanitizer wipes… *guilty*

Going Green Challenge: Buy Biodegradable – I love this so much! There are a loooot of things I need to replace in my home with more biodegradable options, that’s for sure.

Are Microfiber Towels Really Better for the Environment? – Woaaaaah interesting.

3 Eco-Friendly Amazon Buys That Will Save You Money – If that’s not a win-win, I don’t know what is.

Some of my favorite earth-friendly products:

Metal Straws – I use these every single day in my coffee and smoothies! I think I’m going to start keeping one in my purse too, so that I don’t have to grab plastic ones when I’m out and about!

Journey On Lovely – My friend launched her own clothing line about a month ago and she makes sustainability a priority with her choice in fabrics. I love this line, but I love the message behind it even more! I actually have a discount code too if you want to purchase one of her gorgeous dresses – it’s jordanlovely10 for 10% off!!

Love Beauty and Planet – I started using their hair products and shower gel after seeing them at Target, and I’m seriously in love. The scents are incredible and their ultimate goal is to create beauty products without leaving an impact on the planet.

Girlfriend Collective – I bought a pair of these workout leggings when they were still in fundraising mode and UGH I love them so much. I’ve had them for a year now and the condition hasn’t changed a bit. Super flattering AND the fabric is made from water bottles – how cool is that?!

Suja Juice – I always love what this company does for the planet (aside from promoting plants!!), but this Earth Day they’re actually partnering with Tree People in LA and will be donating $10 for every order that’s place through their sale today! They’re doing $99 3-day cleanses or a one-month subscription for $99 plus free shipping through tonight, so hop on that! You’ll get some yummy drinks and help the planet a little in the process?

How are you celebrating Earth Day this year?!

Yay Earth Day! My school recently became a Green Star school which means we recycle, compost, and throw away as little as possible. On average, we’d have 5 HUGE trash bags full of trash after the student lunch period. After we started composting and recycling, it was down to HALF a bag! It’s crazy how much of an impact you can make.
Ben LOVES his glass straws! I think it’s genius to carry a metal one in your purse. We’ve also completely moved to using just vinegar and baking soda to clean our house and it’s incredible. It gets everything SO white and I’m not coughing from the fumes afterwards!
Also, the Bees Wrap is our favorite thing ever. We just discovered it and I feel a whole lot better not using all those plastic sammich bags.

I loved everything about this post!
