Friday Finds

Happy Friday, sweet friends!!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds

This Friday feels about 150% different than last Friday (when I’d gotten off a red-eye and was back in the office for the first time in about two and a half weeks). Luckily now I feel almost entirely back to my routine, and even though I’m going back to the east coast (yet again…for ANOTHER wedding) next week, I feel like the chaos has died down significantly!

While I’m impatiently awaiting fall, I’m loving this time of year in LA when it’s not sweltering, but still feels warm enough to dine outside. I have a fun weekend ahead of dog sitting, catching up with friends, and seeing Beyoncé. Yep, freakin’ QUEEN BEY. I might cry honestly. We’ll see…I’ll keep you guys posted😂

Anyway, here’s what I’ve been reading this week:

Fall Harvest Honey Crisp Apple & Kale Salad – Pretty much all my favorite things in a salad🙌🏼

Stability Ball Ab Workout – Something tells me that this would burnnnnn but I need to do it, anyway…

Are Pickles Actually Good For You or Not? – Wait this is so interesting. I actually ate a pickle last weekend for the first time in ages and was like WHY do I not eat these more often?!

Pasta With Butternut Squash Sauce, Sausage & Baby Spinach – Give me alllll the carbs once the weather gets cooler👏🏼👏🏼 Unfortunately it’s still about 85 degrees in LA though…

6 Outfits Rachel Green Would Definitely Wear Today – Just a fun one! If you know me in real life, you know I have all 10 seasons of Friends and used to watch it every single day for like a decade! Did you guys used to watch it?!

10 of the Coziest AirBnbs to Escape to This Fall – Wait I want to go to every single one😫

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!

Friday Finds

Happy Friday from North Carolina!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds

I can’t remember if I told you guys this or not, but I’m down in the Outer Banks this week for my family’s annual summer vacation. This is by far my favorite place in the world – our house, the memories, the vibes, the views, the beach, it’s all INCREDIBLE. I’ll do a little recap post for you next week, but I wanted to bring it back to a Friday Finds since it’s been awhile.

I’m getting super, super pumped for autumn (my favorite season!!!) and am really looking forward to a sort of life re-set after all my traveling in August/September. I always feel like the start of the school year and this new season is a good time to get our sh*t in order, y’know?

Anyway! I’ll save my little fall journey entry for another time😊 Let’s get into it!

How to Make Fruit & Herb Infused Sun Tea – I know summer is “technically” over but 1) summer lasts until November in LA and 2) iced tea is always a good idea.

Fig Beet Blueberry Smoothie – This sounds BOMB. And also super healthy…count me in.

How to Pig the Perfect Fig – Can you tell I’m obsessed with figs yet?

How to Work Out in the Morning and Make it a Habit – Susie gives the BEST tips on here. I actually just recently started working out in the mornings to give myself more time after work for other stuff and it’s been AWESOME.

The Fall Kitchen Detox: What to Toss and What to Stock – This guide is AWESOME.

1-Minute Gluten Free Mug Cake – Because desserts still calls.

Coconut Protein Balls – Brittany’s recipes are always amazing and this one is no different. I want to get back into meal-prepping the second I’m back home, so I can’t wait to make these!

Alright my sweet friends, that’s it for today. I’m actually working remotely while I’m here, so I’m trying to pack in as much in a day as I can. Have a great one, and a happy weekend!

Friday Finds

Hey hey, friends!!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds | Los Angeles, California

I know I kind of disappeared this week and to be honest, I have no good excuse other than the fact that I just needed a BREAK. You know?

I’ve been talking a lot on my Instagram about how the comparison trap is getting pretty real for me on social media, not to mention the massive time suck that it is, and I wanted to rest my eyes/brain for a second since the previous couple of months have just been bonkers content wise!! I really do love social media and the inspiration, relationships, and community it’s brought me – I wouldn’t change that for anything – but we can’t deny that it’s a bit exhausting. Worth it! But exhausting.

In any case, I’m back with my faaaavorite type of blog post to share with you all and that’s a link roundup of my faves from the past couple of weeks! As much as I love consuming content on social platforms, reading blogs/media sites will always be my #1. Here’s what I’ve been reading lately:

8 Ways To Live A Low Waste Lifestyle (Starting Now) – My next trip to Target will 100% include glass tupperware and I pledge to start carrying around my metal straws NOW! I already have a million, it’s just a matter of finding a way to put them in my purse without throwing them in there randomly ’cause that’s gross…

How to Tell If A Watermelon is Ripe Just By Looking At It – This is SO VALUABLE. Nothing, and I mean nothing is worse than cutting into a non-ripe melon (okay maybe a few things, but you catch my drift…).

12 Things I Learned From The 4 Hour Work Week – How do I make this my life?! More importantly, how do I convince my BOSS to make this my life??

Is Coconut Sugar Healthier Than White Sugar? – So helpful, I’m always confused. How is there so much contradictory information on the internet?

10 Natural Ways to Supercharge Your Water – PLEASE. From my post with Perrier, you guys already know that plain water is my arch nemesis in the summer. I need to start infusing my water with yummy things!!

Invest in a Few Minutes a Day for Happiness with a Five Minute Journal – I am really, REALLY going to try hard to implement this after my birthday/for the new school year (even though I’m not in school…it just feels like a good time to start fresh!).

14 Low Sugar Snacks that Actually Kind of Taste like Dessert – Homegirl cannot go a DAY without something dessert-like. It’s my vice, don’t judge me.

I love you all, have an amazing weekend, and thank you for reading!!

Friday Finds

I literally can’t remember the last time I said this, but I this week kind of flew by!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds

My new job has been really busy, in the best way, and I’m still adjusting to slightly different hours, so maybe that’s part of it. To be honest though, I feel like this entire summer is flying by and while I probably should be mad about it, I’m already excited for fall..is that bad?😅

Okay okay, I’ll change the subject before people come for me – it’s time for another round of *drumroll please* Friday Finds! I’ve been reading a ton about this new moon/full moon situation and I’m a little worried about it (hence the reason it’s at the top of today’s list!) and while I have a ton of fun things planned for the weekend, I will not be making any big plans, or big purchases, and trying to keep things as low key as possible. I never thought I’d say this, but I feel like Mercury in Retrograde is REAL people. Let’s just keep calm and read on:

How to Channel the Energy of the Full Moon in Aquarius – I’m like, semi-excited and semi-nervous for this full moon business…it sounds intense. Granted, I don’t know all that much about the moons & how they affect us, but I’m learning and it’s actually really interesting!

10 Staples Kitchen Editors Always Keep in Their Freezers – This list is everything. I feel like I don’t keep my freezer stocked enough for emergency healthy meals when the rest of the groceries run out!

The $3 Superfood Smoothie for the Girl (or Boy) on a Budget – To be honest, the recipe for this doesn’t actually sound very appealing to me (where’s the flavor?), but I LOVE that they break down the cost of the superfoods. I think spirulina, chia seeds and flax seeds are SO worth the investment! I add some to my smoothies every single day.

8 Key Wellness Travel Tips and the Truth About Charcoal – I looove these, especially the last one about taking melatonin or something that helps you sleep. I don’t know about you, but I have so much trouble sleeping in a bed that’s not my own.

Manifestation is the New Meditation: The Secret to Living the Life You Want – GUYS. I am ABOUT this. I know it didn’t end up working out, but I swear to you I manifested my last job – my cousin came into town last November/December and together we manifested during the new moon. January rolled around and the job I literally asked for came. I don’t know, but I seriously think this sh*t works sometimes! There’s something about it…

Sorry this week was so wordy, guys!! Hope that you found something interesting in there😊

Have a great weekend!!

Friday Finds.

Oooohhhh has it been a minute since I’ve posted one of these!!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds

Between traveling and the past month just absolutely FLYING by, my weekly roundup posts got away from me!! I’m happy to bring ’em back though, these are my favorite☺️

I’m actually wrapping up at my job today (and starting a new one next week!) so it’s kind of a big Friday the 13th for me! Fun fact: 13 is my lucky number! I got my license on a Friday the 13th and also won a check at a big dance competition in high school so I know today is going to be a good one…

Okay enough rambling – let’s just get into it!

Why it’s Time to Start Cooking with Ghee – I started using ghee in my cooking/baking a few months ago and haven’t looked back. The flavor is incredible, but there are so many other reasons to use it, too!

Edible Flower Popsicles – Because I’m obsessed with beautiful food.

12 Minutes to Crop Top Worthy Abs – Your abs are always going to be crop top worthy, but this workout looks v effective, anyway!

Smoky Jackfruit “Chicken” Salad – GUYS. I’ve gotten jackfruit twice now at restaurants and I am in LOVE. I don’t understand how this is not meat. It’s so good and it really tastes/feels like it!! I definitely want to try making it at home.

The 10 Best Hotel Pools in the World – I always love seeing photos of beautiful places I hope to someday cross off my bucket list, but I actually have been to #5 on here! It’s the Hotel San Cristobal that we visited in Todos Santos last week 🙂

20 Foods to Improve Mental Health – Sign a sista UP. I always love seeing how foods can affect different parts of our bodies – it’s fascinating. Maybe in another life I was an RD or something…

What is Collagen? – I raved about collagen (again) in my June Favorites post, but if you’re curious as to what the actual science behind it is, this article breaks down everything you need to know!

Well there ya have! Let me know in the comments what you’ve been reading, or if any of these articles resonated with you!! Have a great weekend😊

Friday Finds

Oh hey there, friends!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds

I know I haven’t been suuuper active on here the past couple of weeks, but I gotta tell ya, typing with one hand is kind of a bummer, plussss life has honestly just been overwhelming. But! I did go my first few days without my sling and the elbow is doing much better, so that’s progress😊

It’s been a minute since our last Friday Finds, so let’s just jump into it!

Investing 101 – 8 Things to Do With $1000 to Better Your Future – SO HELPFUL.

Smoothie Bowl Sprinkle – If this isn’t the most genius & useful recipe then I don’t know what is.

How to Make Everything Bagel Spice – For all my friends who don’t live near a Trader Joe’s!!!

The New Food Storage Trend That Helps Save Money & The Planet –  Here for this👏🏼

5 Lessons in Success We Learned From Kate Spade – Such an icon. I remember my first Kate Spade bag in middle school – did anyone else have one of those messenger bags?!

Avoid These Refrigerator Food-Storage Mistakes to Lengthen the Life of Your Groceries – Definitely making mistakes #5 and #6😅

Why You Should Start a Food Blog (Even if No One but Your Mom Reads it) – I could not love this piece more. I started mine 7 years ago as a way for my family to keep up with me when I moved cross-country!

Have a fantastic weekend, lovers! I’m on the east coast for a wedding (and don’t actually ever want to leave, to be honest) so I’ll catch you guys next week!

Friday Finds

Friday is here!!!! And I am SO ready for this weekend😍

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds & May Intentions

This week kind of flew by for me, just because I have soooo much going on right now! I love being busy with exciting things and having stuff to look forward to. Maybe it’s just this season, or the fact that it’s getting warmer out, but I feel like spring makes it hard to be in a bad mood! Although you should’ve heard me on Monday – that was not the case😅 aka I’m a total hypocrite and you should listen to me ever.

Regardless, I can’t wait to share a ton of exciting news with you guys and the first announcement will be coming next week so get PUMPED. But okay I’ll stop blabbing and teasing now, let’s just get into it!

The Pros and Cons of All the Non-Dairy Milks Not Made From Nuts – Guys this is seriously eye-opening. I was thinking way too highly of oat milk and hemp milk (in terms of nutritional benefit)…

Mango Tango Glow Bowls – These are screamingggg summer to me!

Sweet Laurel’s Grain-Free Chocolate Raspberry Cake – Supposedly her bakery is opening up near-ish to me somewhat soon and I’m DYING to go. I think I might buy her cookbook anyway though, everything sounds amazing!

15 Best Podcasts for Blogging/Making Money Online – PLEASE. You can just call me the podcast queen.

Your Essential Farmer’s Market Guide – Because a Farmer’s Market in the spring/summer is pretty much the best Sunday morning activity ever.

24 Successful Women on How They Make Time for Personal Passions – I love this article so freakin’ much. I think we all could use a little help with work/life balance and time-management!

10 Minute Sexy Summer Arms Workout – One of my new favorite workout videos!! Did this after 25ish minutes of cardio and added a 3-minute ab routine to the end. Sweaty AF.

Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there!!

Friday Finds

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds

I just want to mention two quick things before we dive into today’s link roundup –

1) Yesterday I had the privilege of attending the 3% Conference in LA that spoke about inclusion and diversity in the workplace, and it was quite possibly the most empowering, inspiring day ever. Thank you to my agency, Campbell Ewald for sending me – I learned so much about how we can take action to get people of all walks of life represented in business, and how to truly get closer to equality not only in gender, but in race, sexuality, and more.

2) This second one actually makes sense following that first one, although it’s been in the works for quite awhile! I’m going to be starting a bi-weekly series on here called the DFD Babe Feature where I highlight women I know who are absolutely killing it not only with their businesses, but in life in general. I know so many of these women and I feel like it’s super important to share their amazingness with you all! So yeah, the first one will start next week and I am SO. Freakin’. Excited!!!

I know talking about these things sometimes can feel like a stretch from what this blog is all about – ‘healthy living‘ – but to me, these things are all connected. Health is not only physical, but mental, and inclusion/kindness/fairness can only lead to better mental health for us as a whole. We talked a lot yesterday about how this world is hurting, and all I can think about is how I want to help heal it, one person at a time.

Okay I’m done ranting and babbling now😊 Let’s get on with it, shall we?

10 Tiny Everyday Indulgences That Can Boost Your Mental Health – This list is everything. Lighting my candles after a long a$$ day, or buying a $4 bouquet of flowers every once in a while can make a huuuuge difference!!

The Only 10 Foods All Nutritionists Recommend – Wait yay I’m eating almost all of these on a daily basis!! I do need to start eating a bit more fish, though…I wish it were cheaper😩

The Best Tips for Low-Sugar, Grain-Free Baking – This is amazing!!!! I want to go to the woman’s bakery so badly – I think it’s opening up soon in LA!

13 Cleaner Cocktails You Won’t Feel Guilty About Enjoying – I don’t love the word “guilt” when it comes to food/drinking, but I won’t lie, I definitely feel that way sometimes. I love that these cocktails have cleaner, simpler ingredients, regardless of their lower calorie count!

Graperfruit Donuts – NO. WORDS.

3 Simple Tips for Budgeting All Your Big Summer Expenses – Am I the only one who feels like life gets so much more expensive in the summer?! Aside from my shopping addiction, there are weddings, trips, parties, etc. – it’s overwhelming!!

The 12 Best Tips Ever From Nutritionist Kelly Leveque – I’ve listening to a zillion podcasts with this woman and I am soooo on board with her Fab Four smoothie! These tips are all amazing though, tbh.

Alrighty, that kind of felt like a long one, so if you stayed until the end, I thank you. Have a fantastic Friday and weekend, love you all!!!

Friday Finds: Earth Day Edition!

Happy (almost) Earth Day, sweet friends!!!!!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds: Earth Day Edition!

I’m taking this special Friday to do a sustainability-focused edition of my usual link roundup because I think something I don’t do enough on here is talk about how important I think it is to treat our planet with love. It’s scary to me to think about all of the extreme weather that keeps happening, the droughts in California, and the lack of resources around the world. That being said, we can’t change it all in one day, but we can make wise choices every single day to make this world a better place!

I don’t know about you, but I’m going to be spending part of my weekend frolicking in a giant flower field near San Diego (SO PUMPED), walking by the beach, and buying some herbs for an herb garden. I want to do my best to eat a vegetarian diet this weekend, just because every little bit helps, cut back on my energy use (that’s a permanent goal, actually) and take a moment to admire all this earth has to offer. Next year I definitely want to sign up for a beach clean-up or volunteer program, that’s for sure!

And now, onto the good stuff😉

13 Products That Make it Easier to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – These are all SO awesome. I use stainless steel straws and I love them, but I definitely need to get some of those bees wraps and makeup remover wipes!! Who else goes through 67 cotton balls a week? No bueno…

16 Sustainable Beauty Products Byrdie Editors Always Buy at the Drugstore – I’m always on the hunt for green beauty that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Has anyone tried the new Burt’s Bees makeup? I’m dying to!

How to Spring Clean Your Home the Non-Toxic Way – Yep, definitely need to chill with the sanitizer wipes… *guilty*

Going Green Challenge: Buy Biodegradable – I love this so much! There are a loooot of things I need to replace in my home with more biodegradable options, that’s for sure.

Are Microfiber Towels Really Better for the Environment? – Woaaaaah interesting.

3 Eco-Friendly Amazon Buys That Will Save You Money – If that’s not a win-win, I don’t know what is.

Some of my favorite earth-friendly products:

Metal Straws – I use these every single day in my coffee and smoothies! I think I’m going to start keeping one in my purse too, so that I don’t have to grab plastic ones when I’m out and about!

Journey On Lovely – My friend launched her own clothing line about a month ago and she makes sustainability a priority with her choice in fabrics. I love this line, but I love the message behind it even more! I actually have a discount code too if you want to purchase one of her gorgeous dresses – it’s jordanlovely10 for 10% off!!

Love Beauty and Planet – I started using their hair products and shower gel after seeing them at Target, and I’m seriously in love. The scents are incredible and their ultimate goal is to create beauty products without leaving an impact on the planet.

Girlfriend Collective – I bought a pair of these workout leggings when they were still in fundraising mode and UGH I love them so much. I’ve had them for a year now and the condition hasn’t changed a bit. Super flattering AND the fabric is made from water bottles – how cool is that?!

Suja Juice – I always love what this company does for the planet (aside from promoting plants!!), but this Earth Day they’re actually partnering with Tree People in LA and will be donating $10 for every order that’s place through their sale today! They’re doing $99 3-day cleanses or a one-month subscription for $99 plus free shipping through tonight, so hop on that! You’ll get some yummy drinks and help the planet a little in the process😎

How are you celebrating Earth Day this year?!

Friday Finds

Ohhh Friday, how I love you so😍

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds

This week was a bit tough to get through after my little getaway to Santa Barbara last weekend, but I powered through! I have a jam-packed few days coming up with so many fun things, so that’s been helping for sure. Does anyone else make plans for throughout the week/weekend that they can look forward to? I think it’s so important, even if it’s just your favorite workout class or time to catch up with a friend. Makes it much easier to get through the longer days!

In any case, I’m back with another roundup of my favorite links from around the web. If you’re like me and aren’t at Coachella like the rest of the world this weekend, I suggest kicking back with a cup of coffee or tea and going through these – lots of good stuff on the web these days for health, fitness, food and inspiration in general!

How to Up Your Wellness Game Without Spending a Ton of Money – YES. THIS. You don’t need to spend a fortune on trendy products to get your healthy & wellness on, I promise!

A Donut Bouquet for the Best Sunday Morning – Cannot get over this CUTENESS. So perfect for a gift or party omg.

9 Ways to Make Your Next Pizza Night Healthier – Literally getting pizza for dinner tonight and even though these are recipes for pizza at home, I’m v much inspired to load up on the veggies.

How to Bake With Coconut Flour – And a coconut flour brownie recipe that sounds AMAZE.

How to Energize for Evening Workouts – A must for me now that I’m heading to the gym and classes after a work day! I usually have an energy bar, but these ideas are all awesome!

Ever Wonder Which Non-Dairy Milks Are the Healthiest? – And the non-dairy milk debate continues…I never know what to believe anymore, but I’m fully on board with the taste of all of them!

Okay friends, I’m off to finish up my work, then to hot yoga at Y7 (my fave!!) and a girl’s night with my friend Pam! Hope you have the most wonderful weekend!

xo Jordan

P.s. I’m hosting a fun giveaway today with some bada$$ health & fitness babes on my Instagram if that’s your thing!
