3 Ways to Make Your Morning Better.

Heeeeeey, Monday.

I actually woke up this morning to find out that I got called off work (WHAT?!), so today is more like a Sunday for me. But! For those of you who don’t have the day to catch up on errands and blog post, I’m here to bring you some light reading and share some easy ways to make your morning feel  like a fresh, positive start to the day no matter what.

Perk Up Your Morning Joe. Can I tell you I made THE best cup of coffee today?! I’ve been buying this ridiculously cheap coffee since my trip to Austin back in June (that’s what they had at our AirBnB) and I’m obsessed. It’s extremely strong, so I use exactly 2 tablespoons for about 2 mugs of coffee, and that’s literally how I measure it…I fill 2 mugs and pour them in. Works like a charm. Then, and here’s the really good part, I put in a couple shakes of ground cinnamon, a shake of ground ginger, and a shake of nutmeg. Trust me on this, IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Oh, and I do this all year round, not just in the fall when people are obsessed with pumpkin spice. Plus, cinnamon is crazy good for you. Do ettttttttt.

Have a Real Breakfast. Now I know y’all have heard this one many times before, but having a breakfast with real foods is so important to not only your health but also your mind. Having nutrients found in veggies, fruits, whole grains, and protein can kick start your brain to boost productivity and fuel you for the day ahead. Lately I’ve been making a 1 egg-2 egg white omelette and topping it with black beans and salsa (not the prettiest breakfast ever, but you get the gist). I find that on days that I eat non-processed foods, I have more energy for work or the gym, crave sugary foods less, and stay full for longer.

Set Yourself Up for Success. So this last one is really different for everyone, depending upon what your day looks like and what you want to accomplish. But whatever that may be, write it down. Make a to-do list, write out a schedule, and put it in your planner. If you can see exactly what needs to be done, you can get yourself ready and set aside the time to do it. Not to mention you’re more likely to remember something once you write it down. I live by my iCalendar and planner. So today, for example, I’ve written down “homework, gym, groceries, blog, and clean bathroom.” Isn’t my life grand?! But hey, a day off’s a day off.

    The coffee trick sounds great, I’m trying it tomorrow morning for sure! I’m a sucker for anything that contains cinnamon, so definitely count me in on that one. The day is always more productive if you give yourself some type of guideline to follow, so I definitely agree with the third point.
