Can I just tell you something? I literally meant to post this weeks ago, but time literally jus slipped away from me. THAT’S how quickly this month/season is going, what the heck!! But, now that there’s been some time between the day I decided to set these goals and now, I can tell you how they’ve actually been going. And spoiler alert: not well😅

So maybe it’s a good thing I’m actually finally posting this to go live, because it means I’m almost re-setting these goals and making myself accountable but telling all of you. I think I wanted to do this for autumn specifically because all of the crazy travel plans (and weddings!) from the late spring and summer are finally over. As someone who absolutely loves traveling, and admittedly does not like to be in LA for too long, you’d think I’d be sad about this…but I’m seriously SO happy. I’m looking forward to being in one place, one time zone, and getting back into a routine.

So here are 5 little goals I’m setting for myself this season as a re-commitment to my health and fitness!

Read an actual, physical book for 15 minutes every single night before bed. – By now you probably know that I have sleeping issues…although I’ll be honest, it hasn’t taken me the hours it used to for me to fall asleep in about a month. Which is AWESOME. Regardless, I’d really like to keep it that way and as someone who works in social media both professionally and personally, I gotta get the F off my phone. The blue light isn’t great and it’s hard to shut my brain off. By reading a book, I find it easier to take my mind off the day and get sleepy. The only issue? Books get expensive😬 I need to make a library run soon…

Up the greens. – It’s no secret that I have a green smoothie every single day, but the general logic behind that one is that even if I don’t get many greens in the rest of the day, I know I’ve still had 1-2 cups with breakfast. BUT, that is no longer enough for me. I want to be having greens all👏🏼damn👏🏼day👏🏼. That means green drinks, greens with lunch and dinner, and hopefully one salad every single day. Wish me luck because I tend to slip up on weekends…😅 **p.s. I have been absolutely horrible about this since forming my goal in September. It’s time to step it up!!

Get my sweat on 5 days a week. – To some of you, this may sound like a lot and to others, it might not sound like enough. Here’s the deal, I try to make it to two 45-60 minutes workout classes a week ie. pilates, barre, yoga, etc. The other days I’ll either workout in our exercise room at the apartment, do free videos I find on YouTube for fine toning, or hike. Every single day I walk at lunch for at least 25 minutes (usually 40!), but I don’t consider that a workout because I’m literally sitting on my tush the rest of the day. If I can get in 5 solid workouts a week, that will be enough to soooort of lose the weight I gained this summer without going crazy. Plus, I got a lotta life to live and time is limited. I’d like to not spend it in a gym😊

More meal-prep. – Here’s the thing: making food for my lunches in advance is not only better for me because I control exactly what’s in them, but actually saves me money (which is equally important at this time in my life). I used to be soooo good about meal prepping when I lived alone and had a crazy a$$ schedule, just because I had no other option but to be organized about my food, but I’ve been slipping. If I can get back into this habit – and I don’t mean the crazy hours-long meal prep some others do, just some easy proteins, veggies and grains – then I can save myself time/calories/money throughout the week.

Make no more than 2 plans with others per weekend day. – Omg you guys I have been SO bad about this. Like absolutely terrible. I think because I was traveling for like two months in between crazy work things, I just felt out of touch with friends or something, and now I feel like I’m playing catch up. It’s bonkers. And of course I know friendships are insanely important and being a truly good friend is one of my main goals on a daily basis, but I’ve been burning out trying to run around Los Angeles and see everyone. This fall, and even winter, I neeeeeed to be better about this. I need more me-time to relax and re-set.

I know everyone is always like, “OMG I LOVE FALL THE MOST AND SWEATERS AND PSLs” but I actually, legitimately love fall the most. I’m originally from the northeast where the leaves change colors and we go apple picking and eat cider donuts and this year will always, ALWAYS be my favorite.

Anyway, now that you know about my intense love for this season, let’s just jump into some monthly favorites, shall we?! I always share some of my foodie favorites with you guys, but today I’m sharing some fitness & beauty, too! I think I’m going to start incorporating some more of those things on here, I hope that’s okay with you😊

Square Organics Peanut Butter Protein Crisp Bars in Dark Chocolate Chip – Square Organics (aka one of my favorite brands) launched their new Peanut Butter Protein Crisp Bars this month and the Dark Chocolate Chip one has my heart (pictured up there ^). I love all their flavors, but this one takes the cake for me! I’ve been eating them in the afternoon between lunch and dinner but before my workouts, or crumbling half on top of my smoothies when I’m starving. (P.s. Spudsy Sweet Potato Puffs – I know we are snacking harddddd in this post, but I couldn’t not include these. And they’re actually not too terrible in the nutrition department! I almost ate the entire bag in 7 minutes and had to shove them in the way back of our cabinet so I wouldn’t actually. It was crazy. Their BBQ is hands down my favorite, but the cinnamon and cheddar are so freaking good, too. I will absolutely be buying these again and again!!

NatureBox Snacks (Literally All of Them) – So I initially just had the lentil loops on here, but then I went through a bag of the twists and fruit squares in a day each, and realized that I was obsessed with just more than one of NatureBox’s snacks😬 I did a giveaway this month with NatureBox, but am legitimately a full-blown fan. It’s super affordable and the snack variety on here is incredible, especially if you have dietary restrictions! I ordered a bunch and keep them in my desk at work. On second thought, maybe I shouldn’t do that…too tempting…

Right Foods Miso Ramen Cups – I realize this is not necessarily the healthiest option for lunch or dinner, but I’ve made two of these guys at work during lunch when I was cold and paired them with a PerfectBar (have you tried the Pumpkin ones yet?!), and it was perfect. I seriously love these – the flavor is amazing and for ramen cups, they’re really not too bad! I bet you could add in some spinach or kale and top it with an egg for a full meal.

Good Day Chocolates (Sleep Supplement) – I don’t know if you guys take melatonin to help sleep (I definitely do, especially while traveling!) and I’m fascinated by these!! It’s basically melatonin in a really, REALLY good chocolate. I’m in love. They also make energy and calm ones!!

Fitness:

Box Union – I know that most of you don’t actually have a Box Union specifically near you (if you’re in LA, I went to the one in Santa Monica), but I suppose this is more just about boxing in general! I’ve been wanting to take a boxing class forever (the VS angels do it…), but I was terrified for some reason. I went this past weekend with my friend Pam and had a freakin’ BLAST. I love that it’s a more individual workout – you have your own bag and your own space, and there’s a good combination of cardio and other toning moves intermixed with the arm stuff. The soundtrack for class was also on POINT and I was definitely sore the next day!

Books:

52 Lists of Togetherness – Have you guys tried any of these books?! They’re kind of like prompted journaling in list form. A friend gave me the original 52 Lists Project, but this one launched just last week and it’s awesome!! It’s sort of meant to be done with a loved one or significant other, but you can totally write things down yourself! I used to be obsessed with journaling, but time kind of gets in the way these days. I love these books because they’re an easy way to release some creative energy without having to write pages on pages!

Beauty:

Pacifica Dreamy Youth Moisturizer – If I had to pick one thing in my beauty/skincare routine that I’ve been obsessed with since like, the first half of 2018, it would be THIS. First of all, you can get this stuff at Target for like $16, but it’s also vegan (cool, in my book) and has a crap ton of benefits. It also feels and smells amazing, and I have absolutely noticed a change in my skin. I could not recommend this more!!

SLMD Skincare Hyaluronic Acid Serum – Soooo admittedly I work for SLMD Skincare, but I can honestly tell you that our new serum is amazing!!! I was SO worried to use it because I have pretty oily skin in the summertime, and this product feels slightly oily? But it’s legitimately incredible. I’ve been using it for about a month in place of a moisturizer some days and it makes my skin glow!!

Honestly guys, I could add like 10 more things on here, but I don’t want to overwhelm you!! My dad told me blog posts are too long, so I’m trying to cut back on the wordiness🤣 Let me know in the comments if there’s anything you’ve been obsessed with this month!!

This Friday feels about 150% different than last Friday (when I’d gotten off a red-eye and was back in the office for the first time in about two and a half weeks). Luckily now I feel almost entirely back to my routine, and even though I’m going back to the east coast (yet again…for ANOTHER wedding) next week, I feel like the chaos has died down significantly!

While I’m impatiently awaiting fall, I’m loving this time of year in LA when it’s not sweltering, but still feels warm enough to dine outside. I have a fun weekend ahead of dog sitting, catching up with friends, and seeing Beyoncé. Yep, freakin’ QUEEN BEY. I might cry honestly. We’ll see…I’ll keep you guys posted😂

I can’t remember if I told you guys this or not, but I’m down in the Outer Banks this week for my family’s annual summer vacation. This is by far my favorite place in the world – our house, the memories, the vibes, the views, the beach, it’s all INCREDIBLE. I’ll do a little recap post for you next week, but I wanted to bring it back to a Friday Finds since it’s been awhile.

I’m getting super, super pumped for autumn (my favorite season!!!) and am really looking forward to a sort of life re-set after all my traveling in August/September. I always feel like the start of the school year and this new season is a good time to get our sh*t in order, y’know?

I legitimately think this month flew by faster than any other month in 2018. Am I crazy or do you feel that way, too?! I think I just had SO MANY PLANS. Like so many. And I’ve been traveling the past few weekends (plus I’m in New York right now!) so that always makes things fly, too.

I’m 29 now, so that’s cool, and I’ll be on vacation for the next 5 days or so, which is even better. I know I’ve been slacking on here a bit, but truth be told, life has just been happening and I’m trying to just enjoy it. That being said though, you knowwww ya girl has some food & fitness favorites from this month that need to be shared, so let’s jump into it!

Austin Active Leggings + Sports Bra  (Pictured up there ^) – You guys know I’m a sucker for cute, quality activewear and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wear this set twice a week now. It’s SO flattering and comfortable (no camel toe ladies, it’s amazing). Banza Chickpea Pasta – I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this pasta on here before (maybe?) but either way it is da bombbbb. Like seriously I don’t even want regular or whole wheat pasta anymore because I love the slightly nutty taste to it. I’ve also tried a couple other brands of chickpea pasta and this one is MA FAVE. It holds it’s shape but more importantly it has a boat load more protein and nutrients than regular pasta which makes it a billion times more satisfying and also totally okay if you eat a big portion of it…which I am absolutely guilty of😅

CorePower Yoga on Demand – Apologies for the dark photo up there ^ but I have been absolutely obsessed with starting or ending my day with yoga, specifically Yoga Sculpt using CorePower on Demand. I love CorePower anyway (have you guys tried it?!), but being able to access the classes from my living room is pretty dang convenient. I also appreciate that they have a bunch of different class lengths to choose from, and they’re constantly adding new videos so you don’t feel bored. Highly recommend if you’re someone who likes at-home workouts!

Trader Joe’s Nothing But Fruit & Nuts Discs – I can’t seem to find a link anywhere for these, but they’re in TJ’s by the dried fruit & nuts (which makes sense since that’s basically all that’s in them😂) and they have a few flavors but THIS is hands down the best. It almost tastes like a little brownie, so it’s great for me since I literally crave dessert around 2pm everyday after lunch. I think one is about 80 calories or so, and I’ve been having a couple if I need a more substantial snack before a workout or something! I keep them in my desk drawer…absolutely obsessed.

ZUPA NOMA Soups – If there’s one thing I’ve eaten ALL month long that really stood out to me (that wasn’t at a restaurant…) it would be these soups!!! They are SO GOOD and the flavors are absolutely ridiculous – they just launched their pumpkin spice and I neeeeed to get my hands on it!! I think these are such a lifesaver on days you’re running low on groceries or even time to make a lunch/dinner and they are packed with so many nutrients. I like the thought of having soup so much more than juice for a snack too since the nutrition profile is less compromised, but it’s nice that these are just as convenient when you’re on the go. Omega PowerCreamer – I got this stuff in the mail in two flavors (original and vanilla) and though wasn’t sure what to expect, I LOVED it. I know a lot of people drink butter (or Bulletproof) coffee when they’re on the Keto diet, which I am not, but supposedly it has a bunch of other benefits like increased energy and fat burning. To make it, I blended one tablespoon with hot coffee in a blender and added a bit of stevia and cinnamon. It was surprisingly super delicious and I think it’s awesome that it also has MCT oil in it, so you don’t have to worry about having a separate bottle of that!

Avocado Necklace – Another boss babe I know made this and I don’t think I’m ever going to take it off, you guys. My blogger friend Gracie (who I have legitimately been following since 2008) actually started her jewelry line, Speakable, ages ago and I have one of the originals, but she came out with these super cute foodie name plates and I knew I had to get my hands on one. Mine says avocado, but she has others that say tacos, pizza, carbs, and lots of other stuff!!

I know it seems random, especially considering I wasn’t traveling or anything, but I did attend a few fun fitness events that I thought I’d share with you! And since it’s the end of the month, I bundled that with my fitness & foodie favorites from July…which I still cannot believe is nearly over🙀

I guess that means I was busy…which is quite possibly the understatement of the century considering these past few weekends have been jam packed (with lots of fun stuff, and a bit of work, too). This past Saturday I met my friend Emily at a launch event for Katie Austin‘s new activewear line, Austin Active. Some of you may know Denise Austin, Katie’s mom, who was a huge fitness personality in the 80’s and 90’s I think, but Katie is SO sweet and I’ve been following her on YouTube for awhile now.

She just launched a line of super cute workout clothes (I splurged for a set…I had to!!!) and to celebrate, she taught a free fitness class in Downtown LA at the most beautiful studio space. There was food and juice from Beaming (best chocolate chip cookies ever, you guys), makeup samples from Smashbox, Babe Rosé, and even a braid bar…although I didn’t opt to get my hair done this time!

On Sunday, my friend Keely was teaching her class from ModelFit (aka my favorite class EVER – not kidding, it kicks my butt in the most fun way possible and Keely is the BEST teacher), so I went with a couple friends! The W Hotel here in Westwood is actually doing free fitness classes every Sunday at 9am on their WET deck by the pool (the most gorgeous setting) until the end of September, so if you’re in the LA area, I totally recommend going! Keely is actually teaching again this coming weekend, but there are a ton of other cool classes like boxing and yoga, too! I’m alllll about the free events here, and going with friends makes it 10x more fun😊

Smoked Salmon + Avo Toast – This combo is kind of all I want forever. I splurged on smoked salmon a couple times so far this summer and let me tell you, it is worth every👏🏼damn👏🏼penny👏🏼. I’ve always loved some good lox and schmear on a bagel, but with avocado instead of the cream cheese and a squeeze of lemon on top? Ooohhh baby we are in BUSINESS.

AshaPops – So these are probably the coolest thing I tried all month…they’re popped LOTUS seeds!!! Have you guys ever heard of that?! This company (which is run by THE sweetest woman and her son) reached out to me and asked me if I’d like to try these a few weeks ago and since I’d never heard of anything like them, I immediately said yes! Turns out they’re insanely delicious and pack quite a nutritious punch. I don’t know if you can read the front label up there, but AshaPops are low in calories, high in magnesium and protein, and extremely allergen-free (vegan, gluten free, soy free, etc.). My boyfriend and I finished off this chocolate bag in about 10 minutes sitting in traffic, but their other flavors like cinnamon and turmeric, are amazing, too!

Beekeeper’s Naturals Bee Pollen – I have been lovingggg adding this stuff to my smoothies lately, mostly because of the crunch, but also because bee pollen is SO good for you. BKN is such an incredible brand anyway, so I know all of their products are high quality, but their bee pollen in particular contains a ton of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and protein. It also tastes kind of nutty/earthy, which I’m sure is also good on oats and yogurt!

NüFlo Shoes – Okay HOW cool are these?! I wore these Nüflo shoesies (is that a word I’m allowed to use in my late 20’s?) to pilates last week and they were amazing. There are grips on the bottom which make sure you don’t slip and slide on the Megaformer, but I know they’d also be great for regular or hot yoga, too. Speaking of, I haven’t been back to Y7 since before my broken elbow, so I’ll have to try them out there very soon!! Also they come in other colors or just black too, if that’s more your style😊

Miyokos Smoked Farmhouse Vegan Cheese – I first tried this cheese at the Vegan Food Festival here in LA earlier this summer and I was absolutely blown away. If you like smoked gouda, you will LOVE Miyokos Smoked Vegan Cheese. It’s insane. And it’s vegan…which again, is not necessarily something I choose to be at all times, but I do try to eat less dairy for my skin/digestion and being able to eat something like this on a cracker is a serious game changer! It is a little pricey, but I’ve heard Trader Joe’s carries it for slightly cheaper!

Year of Yes – So full disclosure, I’m not actually finished with this book just yet, but I’m pretty close. I’ve recommended it to every single person I’ve talked books with since i’ve opened it up and I’ve been raving about it to everyone because Shonda Rhimes is a freakin’ GENIUS. Aside from being positive and real and authentic and awesome, which is all the things I want to read about, this book is just straight up hilarious. I literally laughed out loud by myself while reading it on the beach, and that’s a rarity so you KNOW it’s good. If you’re already a Shonda fan, I’d recommend picking this up immediately, but even if you aren’t, this woman is my idol. Such a good beach read!

Amazing Grass Protein Superfood in Chocolate Peanut Butter – If this protein powder blended up with a little frozen banana and almond milk were all I’d get to eat for breakfast for the rest of time, I think I’d be okay with that.This protein powder is hands down the BEST protein I’ve ever had. It’s vegan, has two full servings of fruits and veggies per serving, and contains alfalfa, spirulina, chlorella and açai…none of which you actually taste because the pb & chocolate takes over in the best way possible. I’ve been taking half a scoop (they’re biiiig scoops!), adding a couple frozen strawberries with a 1/2 frozen banana and a handful of spinach, and blending it up every single morning these days. I’m obsessed with this stuff!!

My new job has been really busy, in the best way, and I’m still adjusting to slightly different hours, so maybe that’s part of it. To be honest though, I feel like this entire summer is flying by and while I probably should be mad about it, I’m already excited for fall..is that bad?😅

Okay okay, I’ll change the subject before people come for me – it’s time for another round of *drumroll please* Friday Finds! I’ve been reading a ton about this new moon/full moon situation and I’m a little worried about it (hence the reason it’s at the top of today’s list!) and while I have a ton of fun things planned for the weekend, I will not be making any big plans, or big purchases, and trying to keep things as low key as possible. I never thought I’d say this, but I feel like Mercury in Retrograde is REAL people. Let’s just keep calm and read on:

How to Channel the Energy of the Full Moon in Aquarius – I’m like, semi-excited and semi-nervous for this full moon business…it sounds intense. Granted, I don’t know all that much about the moons & how they affect us, but I’m learning and it’s actually really interesting!

10 Staples Kitchen Editors Always Keep in Their Freezers – This list is everything. I feel like I don’t keep my freezer stocked enough for emergency healthy meals when the rest of the groceries run out!

The $3 Superfood Smoothie for the Girl (or Boy) on a Budget – To be honest, the recipe for this doesn’t actually sound very appealing to me (where’s the flavor?), but I LOVE that they break down the cost of the superfoods. I think spirulina, chia seeds and flax seeds are SO worth the investment! I add some to my smoothies every single day.

8 Key Wellness Travel Tips and the Truth About Charcoal – I looove these, especially the last one about taking melatonin or something that helps you sleep. I don’t know about you, but I have so much trouble sleeping in a bed that’s not my own.

Manifestation is the New Meditation: The Secret to Living the Life You Want – GUYS. I am ABOUT this. I know it didn’t end up working out, but I swear to you I manifested my last job – my cousin came into town last November/December and together we manifested during the new moon. January rolled around and the job I literally asked for came. I don’t know, but I seriously think this sh*t works sometimes! There’s something about it…
