Since I last saw you here a few weeks ago, life has been a whirlwind! I celebrated a very low key Thanksgiving, picked up a few new projects, and had my first major tech issues with my blog (at first I couldn’t write any posts and then the whole thing went down completely…it was a mess!). Needless to say, I’m SO glad to be back and share my morning routine with you 🙂

I’ve truthfully never really had a morning routine before, but ever since moving into our new place and getting into more of a groove with work, I found myself just doing the same quick, simple things at the start of each day to get in a good headspace! From what I do when I first wake up to my non-toxic skincare routine and nourishing breakfast, here’s what my mornings generally look like…

Wake up and make French pressed coffee: My alarm is always set for 7am, but I’ve been waking up on my own around 6:45 lately! I usually just check text messages and any immediate emails before getting up and making myself some coffee in our French press.

Skincare routine: While the water is heating and coffee is brewing, I’ll put in my contacts and do my skincare routine. It wakes me up and truly makes me feel ready for the day! Morning Walk: After I drink my coffee, my boyfriend and I always go for a 20-30 minute walk with our dog. It’s my absolute favorite and always feels good to get moving!

5-Minute Gratitude Journal: This is something I admittedly don’t always remember to do, but try to. This journal basically has you write down three things you’re grateful for, some mantras, and what would make today great. At the end of the day, you check in again and write down what went well, and what would make tomorrow better. It’s just a feel-good thing!

Breakfast Time: Lately I’ve been having more oats instead of smoothies because it’s been chilly! I love making overnight oats, and this golden milk oatmeal is inspired by the AAVRANI exfoliator I use – it’s made with turmeric for its anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidants, and so many other benefits! If you’re wondering why there’s black pepper in there, it’s because curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric) actually needs the compound piperine in black pepper to be activated. You can barely taste it! Here’s the recipe:

Golden Milk Overnight Oats

1/3 cup gluten free rolled oats

1 tbsp chia seeds

1 tbsp flax seeds

1 tsp red maca

1 tbsp coconut yogurt (or any plant-based yogurt)

3/4 cup almond or coconut milk

1 tsp honey

1/4 tsp turmeric

pinch black pepper

optional toppings: bee pollen, banana, apples, edible flowers, etc.

  1. In a small bowl, mix together all ingredients except for toppings and stir well until fully combined. Let sit overnight in the fridge or for one hour at room temperature.
  2. Top with your favorites, then dig in!
