How to Make the Perfect Adult Grilled Cheese

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Albertsons. All opinions are 100% mine.

When I think of summer, I think of eating one of my dad’s famous grilled cheese sandwiches outside on the balcony at our beach house in North Carolina. Now that I’m older and live across the country, it’s up to me to make the grilled cheese and I try my best to make them as well as he does! I’ve learned a few tricks over the years and there are few things an elevated sandwich like this has to have.

Aside from making sure you spread your favorite butter or ghee on the outsides of each piece of bread (duh!), it also helps to keep the pan on medium heat and watch it so it doesn’t burn. I’d give about 3 minutes a side once the pan is hot, and if you’d like, you can put another pan on top of the sandwich for some added weight to really melt it down!

Other than that, here’s my “recipe” for the perfect grilled cheese…

#1: High Quality Cheese (and sometimes a mix of two different kinds!) – I love the exclusive Primo Taglio® cheeses at my local Albertsons in Los Angeles because they’re premium quality at affordable prices (aka what a babe on a budget is all about!). Fun fact: Primo Taglio actually stands for “first cut” in Italian, and you can absolutely taste the freshness in all of their products. For this sandwich I used their Manchego and Havarti for the perfect combo and made sure to slice them thinly for optimal melty-ness.

#2: Protein – Since I need fuel to get me through these busy days, I absolutely have to have protein in my meals. I used the Primo Taglio® Oven Roasted Turkey Breast (we always have this on hand for easy meals!) in this sandwich and it pairs so well with melty cheese.

#3: Condiments – Okay, I know this sounds weird, but I really love a grilled cheese with hummus!! It also holds the second piece of bread together and adds just the right amount of flavor. I also love tomato (as you know!) and sometimes even avocado or sautéed onion! Get fancy with it.

#4: Good Bread – To bring it all together, you want to have a nice piece of bread that’ll crisp up and give a good crunch! I used a thinly sliced seed bread that I also got at Albertsons, but a thick piece of something like sourdough would be amazing, too!

And that’s really it! I can’t think of anything better for a summertime lunch or dinner than a toasty grilled cheese!

For all of my groceries, I shopped at Albertsons in my local area, but you can also find Primo Taglio® meats and cheeses at the Albertsons Companies family of stores, including Safeway, ACME Markets, Jewel-Osco, Vons, Randalls, Shaw’s Supermarket, Star Market, Tom Thumb and Vons.  Find your nearest store here: https://lnk2.io/wwGFVbK
