Florence, Italy Travel Guide: What to See, What to Do & Where to Eat

Welcome to Part 1 of 3 of my Italy Travel Guides!! We kicked off our honeymoon in Florence and it quickly became one of my favorite cities in the world. Here’s what I recommend seeing, doing, and eating!

How to Spend 10 Days in Italy (Our Honeymoon Itinerary!) | Dancing for Donuts

We were only in Florence for about 36 hours, but we made the most of it, even while being jet-lagged! It’s the most beautiful, charming city with kind people, incredible (and affordable) food, so much history and gorgeous sights!

We flew right into Florence from the states and while I know many people who’ve stayed in beautiful Airbnb’s, we went with a hotel, partially because we had points and also because we wanted to ball out a bit for our honeymoon 🙂 We stayed for two nights at Sina Villa Medici and it was absolutely stunning! It’s about a 5-10 minute walk to the downtown-ish area and super close to the river, which we loved to walk along. Breakfast was included in our reservation and we loved it.

Now for the really good stuff!

WHAT TO EAT:

La Giostra – This is #1 on my list for a reason! I definitely recommend booking in advance. The service is incredible (you’re greeted with prosecco!), the vibes are unmatched and the pear ravioli is famous for a reason
Ristorante Pensavo Peggio – This is the cutest little family-owned spot with amazing pasta
Il Latini – Another spot to book ahead, they’re famous for their Florentine steak!
La Menagere – This spot is way too cute and has a few different, beautifully decorated rooms to grab a coffee, aperol spritz or even get some work done! Very instagrammable.
Gelateria Santa Trinita – Out of all the gelato I had in Italy, this one was my favorite!
Westin Excelsior Florence – This is definitely a bit of a splurge, but the view from the roof is insane! We had delicious drinks after dinner here
All’Antico Vinaio – We didn’t have enough time to visit this spot, but heard the sandwiches next level!

WHAT TO SEE:

Ponte Vecchio – This bridge is magical. It was the first bridge across the Arno!

Piazzale Michelangelo – The views of the city are unmatched

Piazza del Duomo – The Duomo in Florence is spectacular. We didn’t go inside, but even just the outside is magical!
Accademia Gallerie – Highly recommend getting tickets to this ahead of time to see the amazing Michelangelo’s David!

WHAT TO DO:

Melrose Vintage Store – We randomly came across this thrift shop and it’s incredible!

Mercado del Porcelino – The leather goods in Florence are a must and there are so many options here at great prices. It’s perfect for buying gifts, too!
Mercado Centrale – This huge indoor food market has literally anything & everything!

And there you have it! If you couldn’t tell, Florence is truly a must-visit bucket-list destination and I miss it already. Have you ever been?!
