Friday Finds

I’m not sure where this week went, but hey happy Friday!

The past few days have been filled with milestones that were well-documented – celebrating one full year as an entrepreneur + 6 months as a dog mom – lots of fun workouts (I co-hosted a 5 day workout challenge with friends on Instagram!) and fun things like getting a new couch, catching up with friends and getting back into a real dance class!

I was also featured on SD Voyager in an interview for their “Trailblazer” series, which is kind of cool😊 I have to say, the start of January had me feeling kind of meh, but I’m getting excited for this year and what’s to come. It’s kind of crazy to think that we’re already halfway through the month!

Anyway, let’s jump into Friday Finds ’cause it’s been a minute since we’ve posted one of these!

Why Travel is the Best Form of Self Care – From my absolute favorite travel blogger😍 And I firmly, firmly believe this – it’s why we’re going to Asia next month!

5 Trader Joe’s Recipes for Cozy Date Nights In – Why is Trader Joe’s literally the best ever?!

Madelaine Pesch’s 19 Minute Workout Routine – I haven’t watched Riverdale in a minute, but this girls seems SO cool…and looks amazing. She’s working out with Stephen Pasternak of P.volve in this video, and I’ve done their workouts before. They’re super low impact but you still really feel it!

Roasted Cauliflower Hummus Bowls – Well these are BEAUTIFUL. And easy if you use pre-made hummus😅

11-Minute Yoga Flow for Core Strength – Yoga is one of my all-time favorite ways to move right now and moves like these leave me surprisingly sore the next day!

8 Eco-Friendly Meal Prep Products – One of my goals for 2020 is to make a better effort eat/live sustainably! Brb while I order all of this…

Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead, especially if you’re lucky and have Monday off😉❤️

Top 10 Posts of 2019

Well, as per usual the time between Christmas and New Year’s FLEW by (just like the rest of this month) and the end of a decade is TOMORROW. 🙀

I’ve been busy closing out work for the year and mostly planning ahead for an incredible 2020 – celebrating the anniversary of launching my business (DFD Creative), re-designing my blog, creating more engaging, valuable content for you, and nailing down details for my 2 week trip to Asia in February! So much goodness to come😊

But just like I do every year, I wanted to take a quick step back and reflect before getting ahead of myself and jumping into something new. Here were the top 10 posts of 2019!

Friday Finds

Oh hey, y’all! This is apparently my first post of October…oof🙈

I totally dropped the ball on my blog – the past few weeks have been filled with transitions, work, events, catching up with friends, and self-care. Plus, if I’m being totally honest, I’ve been feeling slightly unmotivated, but I know that’s on it’s way out (thank goodness).

I’m actually on a plane to Washington D.C. right now – my boyfriend’s brother has his own music festival called All Things Go and the lineup this weekend is absolutely INSANE. My (potentially all time) favorite band is playing, LANY, and I might even get to meet them…plz pray for me that I don’t a) say anything weird b) start giggling uncontrollably c) pee just a little bit in my pants or d) all of the above😂

Oh! And I uploaded another YouTube video (really hoping to be more consistent over there) – it’s a vlog and it shows what a regular day in my life usually looks like! You can watch it here. Anyway, let’s get into the finds of the week!!

Paleo Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies – I made this “joke” on Instagram yesterday, but I swear I’m turning into a chocolate covered pumpkin…I just can’t get enough of those flavors together! And the texture in these looks PERFECT.

How Not to Care What People Think & Be Proud of Your Side Project – Because we should all be proud no matter what. Having a regular project AND a side project is hard work, but it’s fun and we do it because we love it. Do you have one? Tell me in the comments so I can check it out!!

Drunken Homemade Honeycrisp Apple Cider – ummm OKAY. This sounds dangerous in the best way possible.

The 2-Ingredient Breakfasts Doctors Eat Everyday – I’ll just go ahead and eat these for lunch and dinner, too…

Crispy Cauliflower and Kale Penne – Anyone else on a *major* pasta kick rn? Love this one ’cause it sneaks in some cozy veggies, too!!

Alright y’all, we’ll just call it there! Hope you have the best weekend – do all the fall things for me! I really need to get my booty to a pumpkin patch asap…

Friday Finds

Hey hey, friends!!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds | Los Angeles, California

I know I kind of disappeared this week and to be honest, I have no good excuse other than the fact that I just needed a BREAK. You know?

I’ve been talking a lot on my Instagram about how the comparison trap is getting pretty real for me on social media, not to mention the massive time suck that it is, and I wanted to rest my eyes/brain for a second since the previous couple of months have just been bonkers content wise!! I really do love social media and the inspiration, relationships, and community it’s brought me – I wouldn’t change that for anything – but we can’t deny that it’s a bit exhausting. Worth it! But exhausting.

In any case, I’m back with my faaaavorite type of blog post to share with you all and that’s a link roundup of my faves from the past couple of weeks! As much as I love consuming content on social platforms, reading blogs/media sites will always be my #1. Here’s what I’ve been reading lately:

8 Ways To Live A Low Waste Lifestyle (Starting Now) – My next trip to Target will 100% include glass tupperware and I pledge to start carrying around my metal straws NOW! I already have a million, it’s just a matter of finding a way to put them in my purse without throwing them in there randomly ’cause that’s gross…

How to Tell If A Watermelon is Ripe Just By Looking At It – This is SO VALUABLE. Nothing, and I mean nothing is worse than cutting into a non-ripe melon (okay maybe a few things, but you catch my drift…).

12 Things I Learned From The 4 Hour Work Week – How do I make this my life?! More importantly, how do I convince my BOSS to make this my life??

Is Coconut Sugar Healthier Than White Sugar? – So helpful, I’m always confused. How is there so much contradictory information on the internet?

10 Natural Ways to Supercharge Your Water – PLEASE. From my post with Perrier, you guys already know that plain water is my arch nemesis in the summer. I need to start infusing my water with yummy things!!

Invest in a Few Minutes a Day for Happiness with a Five Minute Journal – I am really, REALLY going to try hard to implement this after my birthday/for the new school year (even though I’m not in school…it just feels like a good time to start fresh!).

14 Low Sugar Snacks that Actually Kind of Taste like Dessert – Homegirl cannot go a DAY without something dessert-like. It’s my vice, don’t judge me.

I love you all, have an amazing weekend, and thank you for reading!!

Friday Finds

Hi beautiful people!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds

Daylight savings is really screwing with me, guys. I’ve been more tired than ever, which doesn’t make sense since I’ve been going to sleep earlier? Did the one hour change mess up anyone else’s body clock? Oof.

In any case, we have made it to Friday which is by far the most important thing to note. I’m looking forward to a weekend filled with people that make me happy and lots of rest. I’ve been dying to whip up some more fall recipes too (after last weekend’s baking extravaganza + my first batch of chili for the season!). Will hopefully have more yummy things for ya’ll very soon 🙂

In the meantime, here’s what I’ve been browsing this week:

Brown Butter Squash – Simple, easy, cozy. Sign me upppppppp.

Pomegranate Avocado Salad with Walnuts – Is it just me, or are seasonal fall foods the prettiest?!

10 Books to Read if You Want to Make 2018 Your Year – Umm YES?! Yes. Have y’all read any of these yet? Thoughts?

15 Vegan Hot Chocolate Recipes – Have I told you about my obsession with hot cocoa, yet? I literally have a cup every single night for dessert when it’s cold outside! I’m trying to cut back on dairy a bit, so I’m allll for these.

How to Travel on a Budget – Homegirl is alllllll about seeing the world without emptying that bank account! These tips are superb for any #BabeOnABudget

12 Truly Good Things that Have Happened Since Trump was Elected – I don’t usually get political on here, but sometimes we need a silver lining.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

TGIF, my babes!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds | Palm Springs Ice Cream and Shop(pe)

These days I’m finding it hard to focus on anything other than my move in about a week (eeeeee!!!!!!!) and all of the furniture/decor I need/want to buy…my wallet won’t be happy, but my heart will. I feel like if you’re going to splurge on something (other than travel), it should be your home. You need an oasis to come back to after long days, a place comfortable place just for you, and that’s worth spending some money on in my opinion…

Anyway, I digress! Here’s what I’ve been reading this week:

Why Your Salad Needs Fat – Because the low-fat thing is sooooooo over.

5 Smart Tips for Managing Your Grocery Budget – Plus one more: don’t go grocery shopping on an empty stomach…

10 Healthy Snack Power-Food Combos – I’ll take all the easy + healthy snack ideas I can get!

Pumpkin Coconut Hot Chocolate – Are you even kidding me right now.

Why You Should Switch to Natural Deoderant – YES. Yes yes yes. Schmidt’s is my favorite!

6 Ways to Make the Most of Your Weekend – I’m alllllll about prepping for life on Sundays and taking it easy. Makes heading in the week 10x easier!

Alright y’all, I’m off to work. Tomorrow we have a wedding and then Sunday I’m taking for myself. What are you guys up to?! Something autumn-y I hope 🙂

Friday Finds.

Hi friends!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds.

This week absolutely flew by, didn’t it? I think that may have been because I spent half of every day reading and watching the news hoping they would find some answers about what happened in Vegas last weekend. I actually just want to say something quick here, aside from how absolutely horrifying the attack was – just one week before, I had actually been at a music festival on the same fairgrounds as the shooting, and stayed right at the Mandalay Bay, too. I’ve been extra upset about it, just because of this and how my memories on that field are so different from all of the people involved last weekend and to be honest, I feel a bit guilty about it. Like maybe I shouldn’t have had such a great time there, because only one week later it would be the sight of something so awful.

But there’s really no point in feeling that way, because what we really need to do, aside from sending love and light to all of the victims and their families, is to understand what needs to happen to prevent this in the future. We have had far too many incidences like this to continue on the path this country has been. And on a more granular level, can we all just be a bit kinder to one another? I think that may do some good, as well.

Okay, on a lighter note – here’s what I’ve been reading (other than CNN), and I hope you have a weekend filled with people you love. Hug them a little tighter, okay?

How to Help the Victims of the Vegas Shooting – Call your reps.

Whatever You Fancy Fruit Crumble – Swear I’m making these this weekend with mixed fruit omg.

8 Snacks to Stop Buying and Start Making – Healthier, cheaper, and probably more fun.

Nourishing Fall Power Salad – Now THIS is a salad I could get on board with daily.

3-Ingredient Lunches Perfect for Lazy Days – Wait, how have I not thought of these?!

The Best Things About Being in Your Late 20’s – SO true, I love this!!

The One Baking Ingredient You Should Never Splurge On – Since holiday baking is coming up and I need to save my ca$h for gifts, y’know?

Happy Friday, friends!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds.

This week kind of flew by for me, I think because catching up after being out on vacation made things busier than usual! I got my first pumpkin-spiced anything (if you haven’t tried the pumpkin coffee from s-bux you neeeeeeed to! see above ^) and purchased a few fall-themed items… 😉 Who else is ready for autumn to get here, already?!

For some light weekend reading, check out these guys:

The Basics of Starting a Budget – Couldn’t have written it better myself! Do this if you haven’t already, it’s a MUST.

5 Workouts for Busy Mornings – Or anytime, really. Love that last one!!

The Wellness Girl’s Guide to College Survival: Snack Kit – I’m not in college anymore, but snack kits are necessary for people of all ages #letsbereal

28 Fall Activities for a Memorable Season – Am so in love with all of these, I wish LA had more of a fall tbh.

Sweet Potato Breakfast Bowl – Are ya kiddin’ me with this?! As if I didn’t love sweet potatoes enough, already😍

Catch ya on the flipside!

I’m enjoying my last day on the east coast with my family before heading out to a wedding this weekend in Minnesota, but wanted to make sure I got a Friday Finds post up since it’s been a couple of weeks! Here’s what’s been catching my eye:

How to Save Money While Traveling – Literally on board with all. of. these.

8 Little Habits for Saving Big at the Grocery Store – These are so freakin’ helpful, especially #6!!

Trader Joe’s Meal Hacks for Busy Nights – That loaded butternut squash soup is calling my name for fall!

No-Bake Greek Yogurt Espresso Vanilla Cheesecake – Oh it is ON.

How to Plan Your Week Like a Go-Getter – Because as much as I’d like to think of myself as one, some weeks I just can’t get my sh*t together…anyone else?

To all my friends in FL – stay safe in Hurricane Irma’s path! Sending love & good vibes your way.

Happy Friday, beautiful humans!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds.

We’re back to our regularly schedule Friday Finds programming 🙂 What have you been reading this week?!

7 Grocery Store Hacks to Save You Major Hacks – Guys, YES. I currently follow about 90% of these, but they’re MAJOR. It seriously couldn’t be easier to cut your grocery bill.

Ask a Nutritionist: 5 Questions Answered – As if I wasn’t already so obsessed with Kelly LeVeque anyway…this girl is a genius.

10 Dinners in Under 10 Minutes – For nights when you’re either lazy AF or busy AF.

An Exceptional Salad with an Unusual Coconut Oil Dressing – This sounds insane. How have I never thought to make a dressing with coconut oil?!

3-Nutritionist Approved Snacks to Bring on Summer Adventures – Honestly I would even just bring these to the office because they sound awesome.

10 Pieces of Avocado Toast Almost Too Pretty to Eat – HOW?! Do I need to get a tiny star cookie cutter to cut my food into tiny cute shapes?! No, probably not…

3-Ingredient Fizzy Popsicles [or Slushies!] – Shameless plug because I’m still literally eating one of these almost every day. They’re perfect for a low-calorie treat!

Any fun plans for the weekend? I have a full-blown cold as of now, so aside from a cooking class tonight (which I’m SO excited for!!!!!) I’ll probably just lay low 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
