Just popping in to share some of my recent favorites with you guys!
I know it’s been a hot minute since I shared a monthly favorites post, but I’m doing things a lil differently today and doing it in a video instead😊
I’ve been having so much fun shooting and editing videos, plus you can hear me describe the items a bit better this way, too. Let me know in the comments if you’ve been loving anything lately, and if you have any videos you’d like me to shoot!
Not gonna lie, this week felt like pretty much the longest week ever.
It was a great one, don’t get me wrong, but MAN am I tired😂 There are two things I want to share with you before diving into this week’s Friday Finds (…is this the second week in a row for one? I think so…oops).
First off, I put up another YouTube video and my first one where I really share more about my business/what my life is like on a day to day basis now that I’m really doing my own thing blogging and business wise! You can find that here!
I was also on a podcast this week and in the episode we talks a loooot about my life before this year like my work experience, growing up as a dancer, moving out to LA, doing dance professionally, hand modeling, working 7 thousand jobs, attending b-school, etc. – just stuff I don’t always share on the blog or even Instagram! You can listen to that episode from the Let’s Thrive podcast with my friend Emily here.
And now, for just a few quick reads before we head into the weekend!
If I told you I forgot which day it was at least 5 times this week, I would not be lying😂
I suppose that always happens after travel, though! This week has been super busy but also productive, and for those two things I’m grateful😊 It’s just been so gloomy here in LA and I’m ready for some sun! What’s the weather like where you live?
We do have some fun plans this weekend like going to a Dodgers game, plus I’m helping my friend Erica shoot fitness videos for her YouTube, so that should be awesome!! I’ve been so nostalgic for my dance days, so anything I can do to bring me back to that feeling is always nice.
5 Easy Ways to Help Yourself Focus – Can’t honestly name a day when I DON’T need these tips😅 I think the hardest part of my job now is keeping track of 4 thousand things and I need all the organizational/time management tips I can get.
4-Ingredient Chocolate Collagen Stars – Okay this admittedly not a find, it’s just my Instagram post from yesterday, but this recipe is SO good and I swear you guys, these tastes like those fancy $5 low-sugar chocolate bars at the grocery store. They also take 2 seconds to make😊
30-Minute Cardio + Barre Toning Workout – My friend Aubre is actually the one teaching in this and I just took her class yesterday here in LA! She’s amazing and this is such a great workout to do at home!!
Hello and Happy Friday!! I am VERY happy the weekend is here😊
I know I sort of had a short week because of Texas, but the truth about having your own business is that you don’t actually get to take days off… which means that for the days you SLACK off, you end up just having to catch up HARD afterwards😅
That being said, I know that being busy is a blessing, so I will stop complaining! Besides, I’m gearing up for a weekend of fun with friends and family, and I hope you are too, whether you’re celebrating Passover, Easter, or hey, just life in general!
Hey guys!! I’m back in business after one crazy work week!
In case you aren’t in the food world, last week was Natural Products Expo (or Expo West) here in SoCal from Wednesday to Saturday! Expo West is basically the biggest food trade show in the country and it connects thousands of food brands with hundreds of thousands of people. This was my first year attending and I not only went for myself as a blogger/social media consultant, but also to help one of my clients at her booth.
I ended driving back and forth each day from LA to the show in Anaheim (which I wouldn’t necessarily recommend to anyone working the show now that I look back on it😅). It was a ton of sititng in the car, mixed with standing, talking, eating, and walking, and I can’t tell you how exhausted I was after just the first day, let alone the third!
More importantly though, I really didn’t have time to cook, which is actually SUPER important because Expo is essentially just thousands of snacks consumed in a very short time period😂 It’s for this reason that I decided to spring for Territory Foods last week, my favorite meal delivery service! If you guys remember, I ordered from them once before over the summer after coming back from a vacation.
Sometimes it can seem like meal delivery services are expensive, and they are pricier than cooking at home, but sometimes convenience just has to win! I really did not want to sacrifice my health any more than I had to last week, so being able to just open the fridge and have clean meals ready for me in the morning and at night was KEY. And when it comes down to it, it really is cheaper than ordering in/out!
The process is insanely easy with Territory Foods. I know there are a ton of meal delivery services out there, but here’s why I love Territory in particular:
They have meals for every diet and you can easily search by vegetarian, vegan, paleo, keto, or gluten free
I can have meals delivered twice during the week so I know it’s extremely fresh
The menu changes all the time and there’s a ton of variety!
The ingredients and nutrition facts are listed right on the package and everything is perfectly portioned (there are two portion size options!)
I remember being blown away by Territory’s meals last year, but for some reason they seemed even more delicious this time around! Some of my favorite meals were:
Brunch in a Bowl (with Chicken Sausage, Scrambled Eggs, Beets, Kale & Sweet Potato)
Vegan Chile with Cilantro & Tortilla Crisps
Salmon Cakes with Pesto & Apple Fennel Slaw
Breakfast Sausage Patties with Sautéed Veggies & Aioli
Harvest Spice Muffins with Baked Apples
Orange Cakes with Mint Melon Salad
So all in all, I have to just give a quick shoutout to Territory Foods for pretty much saving my life and my stomach last week! Starting my day off with a solid breakfast (sometimes eaten in the car or behind the booth I worked at😅) and ending it with a nutritious meal after hours of snacking was all I could ask for! And if you guys have never tried a meal delivery service before, I’d highly recommend Territory over anything else – it’s so beyond worth it!
Hope you all are having a great week so far and thanks for reading!!
You guys it’s already almost March and I literally just realized I never even did a January Favorites roundup…THAT’S how quickly time is passing😮
That being said, it’s been an incredibly exciting month filled with change (#entrepreneurlife), events (because that life also requires lots of networking), and fun, too! In fact, I’m actually in Colorado right now for our annual family ski trip, and have been to both Ojai and the Santa Ynez Valley in the past couple of weeks, so fun might be an understatement…
Since I’m technically rounding up my favorites from the last two months instead of just one, I can tell you that the products listed below are for real some of the foods or things I enjoy on a regular basis after having had time to really evaluate what got to make the cut😉
Banza Chickpea Rice – You guys this RICE holy crap. It’s made out of chickpeas…like WHAT?! HOW. It tastes like orzo and only takes about 6 minutes to make, plus it has 11g of protein and 5g of fiber. I turned mine into “fried rice” by sautéeing garlic and ginger, then adding shitake mushrooms, carrots, coconut aminos, avocado and TJ’s ETBT seasoning!
Ona Cookies – When I tell you guys that I try a lot of little healthy treats/bars, I mean a LOT. I haven’t fallen in love with a snack like these Ona Cookies in quite some time and it’s safe to say that I’m full on hooked. They’re gluten-free and kind of taste like macaroons, but so much better and the flavors are to die for. I think the Coconut Shortbread is my favorite!
Trader Joe’s Cauliflower Gnocchi – Listen. I would be straight up lying to you if I said I didn’t have this at least twice a week for dinner. Maybe three times…it’s just THAT good and that easy! I usually sauté mine in a pan with ghee and spinach, add in a tablespoon or two of pesto, and some parmesan. Well, that or my vegan mac and cheese sauce!
Elmhurst 1925 Plant Based Milks – I know everyone and their mother makes nut milks now, but I recently tried Elmhurst 1925 and was blown away. First of all, the ingredients are always just the nut (or oat) plus water, that’s IT. And lemme tell ya, next time you’re grocery shopping just take a look at the nutrition label on your almond milk. I can almost guarantee you’ll see a longer list of ingredients! These milks are also nice and creamy, especially when you froth them before pouring in your hot coffee😍
Lavva Plant Based Yogurt – Okay I’ve clearly formed many obsessions this month because I swear to you I could survive off this stuff. I’ve tried a ton of different non-dairy yogurts and truly have hated them all…until now!! Lavva is thicker than any others I’ve tried (they’re usually so soup-y!) and the flavors are incredible. I also love that there’s no added sugar!
Mad Fit YouTube Workouts – What’s that you say, you didn’t know about my YouTube obsession? Yep, welcome to my life folks. I don’t even watch tv anymore really😂 One of my favorite things about the platform though is access to free workouts!! Mad Fit posts all kinds of amazing workouts that vary in time and work all different parts of the body. They’re home-workout friendly and require little to no equipment, too!
Osso Good Bones Signature Bone Broth – So it’s come to my attention that not many people know what bone broth is! I think I must just live in an LA bubble because I feel like everyone I know is drinking this stuff – it’s insanely high in protein and nutrients, but fairly low in calories (not that I’m counting, but y’know!). And more importantly, it’s amazing for gut health! If you want to hear more about it, and why I love Osso Good Bones so much, you can watch my YT video from my broth cleanse!
True & Co. Bras – Okay I know this isn’t for everyone, just my ladies, but I had to share it with you. I’ve been searching high and freakin’ LOW for a solid strapless bra that doesn’t dig into me or fall down, and I’ve finally found a winner. I actually might be even more obsessed with the True Body Seamless V Neck Bra, which I was definitely not expecting. It seemed a little grandma-y when I first got it and now that I’ve worn it for the past 5 days, I can confirm that it is straight up seamless magic.
WHEW, sorry that was a long one! I wish I could add at least 5 more things, but those might have to wait since I know you probably have a zillion things you have to do today.
Thank you so much for stopping by and if you have time, please let me know in the comments some of the things you’ve been loving lately!
Ahh, there’s nothing better than when a Friday pops up earlier than expected due to a short holiday week!
^ that was taken last weekend when we went up to the Santa Ynez Valley for wine tasting! I wanted to write a blog post on it, but we were only there for 24 hours so it wouldn’t have been very long😅
Anyway, I’m pretty happy it’s Friday because today I’m leaving to celebrate my friend Connor’s 30th birthday in Ojai! I’ve never been before, but I hear it’s beautiful, too. And then next week I actually go to Colorado, so lots of travel coming up!!
If you’re looking for some light reading after another week of news that’ll make your head spin, here’s what I’ve got for ya:
You guys, January was actually freakin’ bonkers for me and 100% felt like it was 100 days long. And I know everyone says that, but I feel like this past months was one of the craziest I’ve had in a VERY long time! It flew by so quickly that I didn’t even have a chance to do a January Favorites post for you, so I apologize!
With major changes to my career and schedule, I’m still trying to figure out this whole work and balance thing, so please bear with me😅 But for now, let’s just get back to Friday Finds, ’cause it’s been a hot minute!
How to Make Lasting Changes to Your Diet – THIS. I’ve never been one to make any super crazy changes to my diet, but that’s also because I strive to make healthy habits more just part of my lifestyle!
How to Make a Superfood Latté – So you can not be like me and spend $8 on a latté (yes I did that this week, no I do not regret it, but still…😅)!
Influencer vs. Expertise: The Dangerous Rise of the Fitness Influencer – This article was the TALK of my Instagram feed this week, wow. It’s actually an incredible post and so valid. I highly recommend it to anyone in the fitness space, or even influencer space at all. It made me really think about what I’m posting and how it’s affecting other people!
Well, that’s it for today. Go enjoy your Friday night, stay warm, and eat something yummy!!
This is my first full week in LA as an entrepreneur and so far it’s been fantastic! It’s kind of crazy how much you can get done in a day, and how quickly time can fly. It’s almost February too, which is bonkers!!
I’ve actually been cooking up a storm over here, since I now have a bit more time and flexibility! While nothing is ever too crazy, there have been some notable recipes I’ve either followed or created. Since I’ve been catching up on work after Hawaii, I figured I’d throw everything in one blog post for you. Everything is shared below and honestly, I’m hungry just looking at it all again😍
Sausage Pancake Muffins – I didn’t really follow much of a recipe on this one, but I did whip together a batch of Birch Benders pancake mix (as instructed), and then tossed in some Jones Dairy Farm pork sausage to bake in muffin cups at 350 degrees fahrenheit for about 15 minutes. Make these and then dip them in maple syrup. YOU’RE WELCOME.
Easy Raspberry Chia Jam – All you need to do to make this is heat up a few frozen raspberries in the microwave (I do about a quarter cup!), throw in about 1/2 tbsp chia seeds (ground or whole) and a sprinkle of coconut sugar. BOOM. 20 seconds later: chia jam!
Vegan Cashew Cheese with Chickpea Pasta – So I didn’t fully follow a recipe for this one, but I did take a 1/2 cup soaked then drained cashews (in water for about 15 minutes), 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1/2 cup vegetable broth, 6 tbsp nutritional yeast, 2 gloves garlic, sea salt + peppa, and 2 tbsp brown or dijon mustard then blend it all up and voila! Creamy, dreamy vegan cheese 🙂
Egg White Stovetop Oats – For this, I just took 1/2 cup of oats, 1/2 cup almond milk and 1/2 cup water, then stirred it together over the stove on medium for about 7 minutes. Once the liquid was almost completely absorbed, I took them off the heat, poured in an egg white and stirred veryyyy quickly so that it wouldn’t all cook together like an actual egg! This just adds some extra protein and a lotta fluff. Highly recommend!

As you already know from following along on here, women’s health (and health in general, of course!) is suuuuper important to me. I’m actually just going to go ahead and tell any of you fellas out there reading to maybe click away to something else, ‘cause this one’s for my ladies!
Something that’s been on my mind for months now as I prepared for entrepreneurship is health insurance. I’m not married, and I’m certainly not under 26 anymore, so being able to afford to take care of myself is somewhat daunting, but absolutely essential. Sure, there are some things we cannot control (helloooo genes), but the good news is that there are so many things we CAN control. Here are some of the simple, cost-effective ways I’m prioritizing my health this first month of 2019.
Having collagen every single day – I’ve been taking collagen for almost a year now, but I wasn’t diligent about taking it daily until a couple months ago. but I have been so much better about taking it every single day this month. I put it right by my coffee so that I remember to blend it in each morning! In case you’re not familiar with collagen, it can work wonders on the human body. I primarily take it for strong hair and nails, youthful looking skin, and gut health, but it can also help with joint pain as well as brain and heart health!
Eating more plant based – after reading a few articles about how women have a harder time digesting meat products than men, I’ve been making to eat more plant based wherever possible! That includes things as simple as swapping my meat proteins for fish, tofu or beans, and even used a plant-based protein powder in my smoothies instead of whey protein powder. *The collagen I mentioned above can either be animal based or plant-based – I try to take marine collagen whenever I can!
Taking the Nurx at-home HPV test – I know it’s not glamorous to talk about, but this month is Cervical Health Awareness Month. HPV is the most commonly transmitted STI and most men and women are infected with HPV at some point in their lives. As women, it is critical that we use the technology that is now available to us to check our health, because there are certain things like cervical cancer that men just don’t really have to worry about. If we catch them, or our risk of having them, early enough, we can help protect ourselves!
This is why when Nurx reached out to me, I kind of flipped out a little. Nurx is an at-home HPV test that you can do without scheduling an appointment at your gyno (idk about you but I am busy af these days and sometimes those places are booked months out!). It’s the same quality as a pap smear and it’s an affordable option to check your risk for cervical cancer. If you have insurance, Nurx is only $15, but even if you don’t, it’s just $69 (and one could argue the peace of mind that comes with these screenings is priceless!).
I also love how convenient this kit is for women who may not have access to traditional health care, whether they live far from a doctor’s office or just can’t afford the appointments. It’s pretty crazy too – there’s a stat that says nearly 25% of women without health insurance haven’t check their risk for cervical caner in the past 5 years. We have to change this! And I think a product like Nurx could even make a serious difference in third world countries or other areas where doctors aren’t as readily available to people.
To take the test at home, you just download the Nurx app or go to Nurx.com, answer a few questions and then you’ll receive the kit in the mail! You’ll swab yourself (the directions are super easy to follow and give all the detail you need!), then place everything in the pre-paid envelope which will then go right in the mail. Easy peasy!!
Tell me – how are you taking control of your health this month?!
