My First Time Trying a Meal Delivery Service

I gotta be honest with you, I never pegged myself for one of those meal kit or meal delivery people…

Dancing for Donuts | My First Time Trying a Meal Delivery Service

I just figured, okay I love to grocery shop and I love to cook, so why would I need someone to take care of those things for me, right? Wrong.

Here’s the thing, while I do love shopping/cooking and I don’t actually mind spending time doing them, I never realized just how much time they took out of my daily life. I don’t know about you, but I make about 80% of my meals each week at home, which means I’m prepping breakfast and lunch ahead of the work day, and then cooking when I get home at night.

If you can’t relate to me on that, I bet you can relate to me on this – do you know the feeling when you get home from a vacation and you’re exhausted AF so the thought of going to the crowded grocery store let alone standing in the kitchen long enough to put something together just sounds terrible? YEAH. I know you do. That was me last week when I got back into town after 4 days on the east coast with very minimal sleep.

Dancing for Donuts | My First Time Trying a Meal Delivery Service

My savior? Territory Foods. The week before I went out of town, I remembered that I’d probably have that sinking feeling when I got home and had nothing in the fridge. Not to mention, I’m trying to be good about my eats these days since my broken elbow has caused quite the disruption in my workout routine!

So, I went onto the Territory Foods website and decided to place an order for breakfast and lunch for the three days following my trip. They would be delivered to my door the day I got back into LA and the best part? There’s no subscription – which is a game changer for me since my schedule never looks the same day to day.

Here’s what appealed to me most about Territory Foods: everything is made by local chefs who take input from a nutritionist to create balanced meals and the menu changes week to week. The ingredients are sustainably and locally sourced, and you can even choose filters to match your diet preferences (like Whole 30, Paleo, or low carb). All of their meals are free of gluten and dairy ingredients, which is also nice if you’re sensitive to those! You also get to customize your order to choose exactly which meals you’d like and there are a tonnnn of delicious options. I was actually super impressed with the selection!

And, as I mentioned, there’s no subscription/regular commitment requirement, but it is slightly cheaper if you choose a recurring plan and makes sense to opt into the recurring discount, since you can skip/pause/cancel anytime.

The Process

The Thursday before I got back from my travels, I went onto the Territory Foods website and placed my order. Since deliveries come Mondays and Thursdays, and my flight landed on Monday, I knew I’d be okay in terms of timing/getting the food in the fridge as quickly as possible. There were two size options: Standard (between 400 and 600 calories) or Boost (between 250 and 400 calories).

I chose to pick Standard, since I know myself and 250 calories ain’t gonna cut it for me, which came out to $13.95 a meal. I know this might sound like it’s pricey, and the Boost meals only cost $10.95 a meal if you’re trying to save, but I’ll tell ya – my breakfasts were enormous, I was able to share with my boyfriend, and two lunches actually lasted me for three days. So if you break it down, it’s probably around $10 a serving, which isn’t bad! Not to mention that I wasn’t snacking at all since I was full, so I didn’t have to worry about bringing energy bars or anything like that. I’d say that’s pretty cost effective, especially when you factor in the time saved!

My Order

Breakfast & Lunch Day 1:

Veggie Breakfast Bowl with Caprese Salsa – I loooooved this one! So much flavor.

Pulled Pork with Butternut Squash and Brussels – Such a hearty but nutritious meal. The veggies were seasoned and cooked perfectly!

Breakfast & Lunch Day 2:

Veggie Breakfast Bowl with Caprese Salsa – Good thing I ordered this one twice ’cause I loved it so much.

Vegan Mac & “Cheese” with Seasonal Vegetables – my FAVE.

Breakfast & Lunch Day 3:

Lemon Poppy Muffins with Cinnamon Breakfast Apples – These muffins were so good that I legitimately regretted sharing one with my boyfriend…

Orange Chicken with Brown Rice Chow Mein Noodles – Like Chinese takeout but soooo much better.

Dancing for Donuts | My First Time Trying a Meal Delivery Service

After having three days and six meals prepared for me ahead of time with Territory Foods, I can honestly say that I might be a meal delivery service convert…so much so that I actually ordered three lunches again for this upcoming week since I’m going out of town yet again and it doesn’t make sense to stock up on groceries.

SO. Is this the most frugal option for someone looking to eat real, home-cooked meals? No. Is this a ridiculously convenient and delicious option for weeks when you’re busy, coming home to an empty fridge, or tired AF? YES.

I don’t know what other meal delivery services are like, but I can tell you that the two most important things about Territory Foods to me personally are the following: 1) it’s not subscription based and 2) there is an unbelievable amount of variety no matter what diet you’re on or health goals you have. I honestly cannot recommend it enough!

If you’d like to see what mean, and trust me, I won’t let ya down, head over to Territory Foods and use the code DANCINGFORDONUTS for $30 off your first order. You can also order directly through this link – I won’t make any money from it, I just honestly know you’ll love it if you try it!

So there ya have it, fine folk. Have you ever ordered from a meal delivery service before?

Homemade Lavender Vanilla Almond Milk (How-To + Recipe)

Let me introduce you to one of my new favorite things to do: making nut milk!!!

Dancing for Donuts | Homemade Lavender Vanilla Almond Milk (How-To + Recipe)

Guys I had been sooo intimidated to try making my own nut milks at home, even though I have friends who do it and they’ve told me how simple it is! Idk what was up with me, but I will tell you, it is SO simple, quick, and honestly just makes me feel better knowing that I made it myself. Have you ever looked at the ingredients list of most non-dairy milks?! Tons of additives. It makes sense though because fresh almond milk only lasts for about 3 days before going bad, so you can only imagine what they need to put in the milks at the store to make them last as long as they do!

To make the actual milk, you only need two ingredients (almonds + water), but I wanted to flavor mine with a touch of natural sweetness, vanilla and lavender. Also, you’ll want to be sure you leave yourself enough time to soak the almonds for 8-12 hours because that is the key! In terms of equipment, this requires a blender, nut milk bag and something to pour the milk into. I use a nut milk bag from Ellie’s Best and it has freakin’ changed my life👏

Dancing for Donuts | Homemade Lavender Vanilla Almond Milk (How-To + Recipe)

In terms of money, I think making your own milk at home can be super economical if you 1) get your almonds or whatever base you’re using from bulk bins or when they’re on sale and 2) make sure you don’t make so much that you waste it. I’m pretty sure one cup of almonds cost me about $3 (not on sale because I wanted to make it asap for this post!), but then I made enough milk for 3 days (for smoothies + coffee), plus the cup of almond meal that came out of it. You can do so many things with almond meal, and that’s something you definitely don’t get when you just buy the milk in store.

Dancing for Donuts | Homemade Lavender Vanilla Almond Milk (How-To + Recipe)

So yeah! It’s better for you since there’s less crap in there, you can customize it to be whatever flavor you’d like, it can be super cost-effective if you get your almonds in bulk/on sale, and there’s less waste overall since you’re not buying cartons on cartons. So many perks you guys! If you’d like, you can try Ellie’s Best nut milk bags (or any of their other items) and take 10% off your entire cart with the code ‘dancingfordonuts’ – they even send you a few of their own recipes to get you started!

Dancing for Donuts | Homemade Lavender Vanilla Almond Milk (How-To + Recipe)

What you’ll need:

1 nut-milk bag or cheesecloth – I’ve been using Ellie’s Best nut milk bags and I’m in LOVE.

A blender – I have a NutriBullet, but any should work fine!

A pitcher (or even vase if you’re desperate) to strain the milk into

An airtight container for storing the milk (like a mason jar or bottle)

Lavender Vanilla Almond Milk

1 cup raw almonds

3 1/2 cups filtered water

2 pitted dates (optional, but recommended!)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp culinary lavender (feel free to add more, but a little goes a long way!)

1. Soak the nuts in water in a large bowl for 8-12 hours (but no longer than 12 ’cause they can actually go bad!).

2. Drain the almonds then add them to your blender with the filtered water, dates, vanilla extract and lavender. You may need to do two batches depending on your blender size! Pulse/blend for 1 minute on high.

3. Take an Ellie’s Best nut milk bag and put it 3/4 of the way inside a pitcher, making sure that the top is secure. I tie the string, but you can also use a rubber band.

4. Pour your nut milk blend into the bag over the pitcher. You’ll see that most of it will drain straight through, but there’s still a ton left in the bag surprisingly! Using your hands, hold the bag over the pitcher and squeeeeeze!!! It takes me about 3 extra minutes and some muscle power to really get the rest of the liquid out of the bag.

5. Transfer the nut milk to an airtight container (unless it’s already in one!) and empty the almond meal from the nut milk bag into another airtight container, if you’d like. You can use this in smoothies, oatmeal, and a ton of other recipes! Note: Your fresh almond milk will only stay fresh for up to 3 days because it doesn’t have preservatives like store-bought brands! Be sure to drink it before then 🙂

Dancing for Donuts | Homemade Lavender Vanilla Almond Milk (How-To + Recipe)

So there ya have it! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask me – I might make a quick little video of this too, since maybe it’s easier to understand the directions that way? Let me know what you think, and if you make some almond milk of your own! And if you need a new nut milk bag, be sure you use the code ‘dancingfordonuts‘ so you can get 10% off at Ellie’s Best!!

April Foodie and Wellness Favorites

Another roundup of my monthly faves has arrived!!

Dancing for Donuts | April Favorites (Healthy Food and Wellness)

I’m doing something a little different today guys…I’m sharing a video instead of the usual wordy blog post, I hope that’s okay with you! I’ve said this before, but I feel like it’s so much easier to feel like you know someone when you can see/hear them speaking, so hopefully this is a more entertaining and personal way to hear about what I’ve been loving this month.

If you’re short on time, at work with no headphones, or kind of just don’t care, I feel you😂 I’m still listing everything out below the video, so not to worry, but if you want to hear more about my actual thoughts on these things, I recommend giving it a listen! I always love watching favorites videos on YouTube, so hopefully you’ll enjoy mine😊

Blue Diamond Nut Thins – I’m not usually the biggest crackers person (since I prefer sweets, you know me!) but these are a game changer!!

Artisana Coconut Butter/Manna – Actual crack, you guys. Makes me feel like I’m on an island or something.

Primal Kitchen Ranch – The only real “dressing” I’ll put on my salads!🙌

Earth Balance Coconut Peanut Butter – I lied, THIS one is actual crack. Seriously.

Crunchy Puffed Rice Sticks – I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d actually like these, let alone LOVE them…

Birch Benders Pancake Mix – Sharing my banana bread recipe below this list!!

GT’s Kombucha in Bloom – Pretty sure this is my favorite flavor of kombucha EVER.

Native Deodorant – This is the odd man out, but I love it so much.

Dancing for Donuts | Birch Benders Banana Bread

Well, there ya have it! I’ve been loving about 3x more than what I’ve listed here, but I didn’t wanna overwhelm you😉 I’ll share the rest of them next month though, so be sure to stay tuned!!

Recent Eats

How is it actually the end of February already, guys?!

Version 2

This month absolutely flew by, even faster than January, I honestly can’t believe it. I guess I had a few notable things happen – I left my old jobs (and friends! Miss you guys so much), took a few days to re-group, started my new job, and left to meet my parents in Colorado for vacation. It’s my last day here and tomorrow I go back to reality, so I’m going to try and soak up as much time in the snow as possible!

Since it was a short month that was full of changes and running around, I don’t have too many foodie favorites to share with you like I usually do! Instead, I figured I’d just share some of my recent notable eats since I’ve eaten a ton of really delicious things this month! Hopefully this can give you some ideas if you’re in a food rut😉

Dancing for Donuts | Recent Eats (February 2018)

English muffin with mashed avocado, pink himalayan sea salt + TJ’s Everything But the Bagel Seasoning – I’d be lying to you if I said I didn’t eat this at 3/7 days a week (and usually with an egg on top). I am obsessed with this combo and that is not an exaggeration! I’ve always been a fan of avocado toast (like the true millenial I am), but on a soft and fluffy english muffin with seasonings it is NEXT. LEVEL. If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s near you, I found this recipe so you can make their everything bagel seasoning at home!

Dancing for Donuts | Recent Eats (February 2018)

Kale salad with sriracha greek yogurt dressing (a slightly watered down version of this dip recipe), leftover tri-tip, mini peppers, 1/4 avocado and a slice of garlic bread  – So I’m making a pact with myself to eat one salad a day in March and my lunch at work is generally a good time to make this happen. After indulging hard over Valentine’s Day, I threw some leftover tri-tip (it was on sale and holy smokes was it good) over some kale and peppers. We’d eaten the tri-tip the night before with some air-fried tater tots, so naturally I made my spicy greek yogurt mustard dip. We had some leftovers of that too, so I watered it down and poured it over the salad as a dressing. I am 100% doing that again – SO good!!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds

SquareOrganics plant-based protein bars – I am allllll about the bars and I’ve pretty much tried every bar under the sun, but these are different!! I love the texture so much – a little crunchy as opposed to some of the bars that are really soft and gooey, and the flavors are to die for. I also love that they’re plant-based (something I’m trying to be more of!) and they donate part of their proceeds to fight human trafficking. SO awesome. If you want to try a sampler pack for yourself for $12.99 + tax, just text SAMPLER to 33222!

Dancing for Donuts | Recent Eats (February 2018)

Rubio’s wild-caught red shrimp bowl – You know me guys, I don’t usually eat “fast food,” which I totally thought Rubio’s was, but to be honest it’s more just fast casual like a Panera. I went for lunch with my boyfriend recently and tried their new red shrimp bowl and it. was. GOOD. I was so impressed by how fresh their ingredients are and I was able to get my bowl with their ancient grain mix instead of white rice. I’m alllllll about healthy options and they make it really easy to customize the dishes. You can even get a BOGO at Rubio’s with this coupon, which’ll save you about $10 on their delicious and fresh food. Highly recommend!!

Dancing for Donuts | Recent Eats (February 2018)

Green Smoothie with Huel – I won’t go into too much detail about this one since the full post can be found here, but this smoothie has been a go-to for me since it legitimately keeps me satiated until lunch time! And, if you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you know that I’m usually someone who needs a snack at 11am to calm my growling stomach…these days I don’t have to do that, which is nice😊

Dancing for Donuts | Recent Eats (February 2018)

Air-fried donuts – So I was suuuper excited to make these since I’ve been looking for all kinds of yummy things to make in my new air fryer, but I accidentally picked up the wrong kind of biscuits! Essentially, you just take biscuit dough from the refrigerated section at the grocery store and cut a hole in the center, but make sure it’s NOT the flaky kind! I’ll put an actually recipe up here soon once I’ve got it down perfectly, but regardless, these were delicious. They were pretty much just biscuits that I covered in butter, cinnamon and sugar, so what’s not to like?😂 P.s. My air fryer can be found here and it is magical!!

Dancing for Donuts | Recent Eats (February 2018)

Dark Chocolate Eclipse Cake with cream cheese frosting – When I tell you that my boyfriend had to hold me back from getting thirds (yes, thirds) of this every night after Valentine’s Day, I am dead serious. This cake is THAT good. I grabbed the cake recipe from Chocolate Covered Katie (looooove her stuff!), which is fairly healthy for a chocolate cake, and then smothered it in cream cheese frosting (which is essentially just butter, cream cheese and sugar…oops!). While I have zero regrets of covering this cake in frosting, I will say that if I made this again in the near future, I’d probably try to come up with a healthier frosting😅 I can tell you that the cake itself was super fudgy, regardless of it being dairy free. Obsessed!!

Dancing for Donuts | Recent Eats (February 2018)

Green juice from Kreation – I know most of you probably don’t live in Los Angeles, but if you do, run don’t walk to the nearest Kreation (there are a few around town!). They’re a little pricey but literally everything tastes delicious, which is pretty impressive when it’s packed with vegetables and all kinds of healthy things. The one I had, Green #2, tastes AMAZING and you can see up there that it has all kinds of greens (hence the name…) and my friend had one of their green smoothies, which was also delish. I’m kind of glad I don’t live too closely to one of these, they’d take all my money for sure!

Dancing for Donuts | Recent Eats (February 2018)

Perfect Bar in Dark Chocolate Almond – Told ya I was a bar girl😏 I’d only tried one of these bars previously and I have NO idea why it took me so long to try another!! These are definitely different than the Square Organics bars, but I love them both! You can find them in the refrigerator section, which actually appeals to me since it means they’re not  packed with preservatives. They’re also higher in calories, so they’re the perfect mid-afternoon snack when you need to say full until a late dinner or even pre-workout if you’re getting ready to sweat it out hard. This flavor was phenomenal, but they honestly all sound good. Can’t wait to try more!

Alright lovers, that’s it for now! I hope everyone had a fantastic February – I have a feeling March is going to be pretty great either way. Let me know in the comments if you’ve eaten anything delicious lately!! I need to get back into meal prep and cooking as soon as I’m back from the mountains!

The Smoothie I’ve Had (Almost) Every Day in 2018 + 5 Favorite Smoothie Add-Ins

Hi Friends!!

Dancing for Donuts | The Smoothie I've Had (Almost) Every Day in 2018 + My 5 Favorite Smoothie Add-Ins

Oh man, I had so many things I wanted to do in the few days I had off in between jobs, and only about 1/3 of it got done😳 HOW DOES TIME MOVE SO QUICKLY?! But you know what, it’s okay, because I actually was decently productive and more importantly, was able to hit the re-set button a little. I’ve been trying a bunch of different workouts and meeting new people in the process, so that’s been fantastic. I also got to spend some quality time with friends and my boyfriend, so that’s always a plus. I feel like you can’t always check off every single thing on your to-do list, y’know? You have to prioritize and get the super important stuff done first…

Anyway, I digress! I think my point was going to be that I meant to write this post weeks ago but am only getting around to doing it today. I know a lot of people tend to fall off the wagon with resolutions for the year and what not, but I feel like consistency and routine helps sooooo much. Since my life is going to be changing starting today (with my new job!), and things have been busy regardless, I have one constant that’s helping me stay on track with my health and fitness goals and that’s my daily smoothie. I’ve raved about smoothies before on here, but let me reiterate again just how incredible these things are because you can literally pack an entire meal’s worth of nutrients into one little blender and make it taste AMAZING. Like how crazy is that?!

Dancing for Donuts | The Smoothie I've Had (Almost) Every Day in 2018 + My 5 Favorite Smoothie Add-Ins

The smoothie I’ve been having almost every single day since the start of the new year looks a little something like this (depending on what’s in my fridge/freezer/pantry):

1/2 cup unsweetened almond, cashew or coconut milk

1/4 cup cold water

2 handfuls greens (kale or spinach)

1/4 cup fruit (mix of frozen banana and berries)

2 scoops HUEL

1 tbsp nut butter

1 tbsp ground chia seeds

It literally takes me all of 4 minutes to make since I throw everything in my NutriBullet and blend it for 30 seconds. That’s IT. I swear. And this thing will last me through until lunch at about 12:30 which is saying a looooot for this girl since my metabolism is usually through the roof in the morning. I used to have breakfast, a mid-morning snack at 11am, and then be hungry again by noon. That is no longer the case! Granted, this smoothie has a ton of calories and protein, but they all come from good stuff. I don’t count calories ever, I’m more concerned with the quality and nutrients of what’s going into my body.

Dancing for Donuts | The Smoothie I've Had (Almost) Every Day in 2018 + My 5 Favorite Smoothie Add-Ins

If you’re wondering what HUEL is, it’s a nutritionally complete food that’s 100% vegan, contains 27 essential vitamins and minerals, plus protein, carbs and fats to power you through your day. So yeah, it’s about 10x better than a protein powder guys. It’s made from a blend of oats, pea protein, flaxseed, brown rice protein, MCT’s from coconut, and a vitamin & mineral blend. I chose the vanilla flavor, so it is flavored with vanilla and stevia, but the ingredient list is unbelievably clean. I also love that there’s minimal packaging and that HUEL has a shelf life of 12 months. It’s also super affordable, which I find impressive for a product that packs such a nutritious punch. They also make a gluten-free version, so that’s a plus for people that need an allergen-friendly option!

I think what I love so much about smoothies, especially now that I add HUEL to mine, is that they’re hella convenient. For someone who has to run out the door every morning and either eat breakfast in the car on the way to work or at work, being able to have a complete meal that I can simply drink is key. That being said though, I truly do not believe you need to spend more than $5 per smoothie to make it nutritious or delicious. If you invest up front in a few great items for your pantry, you’ll be good to go, making these meals absolutely perfect for #BabesOnABudget!

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds | Spirulina Smoothie Bowl

Now without further ado, here are my five must-have add-ins for healthy, tasty & filling smoothies!

1. Maca Powder – I love maca because it honestly just tastes really good, but it also is known for reducing stress hormones as well as the fiber and minerals it contains. It also boosts libido, so that’s always good😉

2. Spirulina Powder – I don’t know what it is, but just having spirulina makes me feel instantly healthier😂 It has a vey strong flavor so I use no more than half a teaspoon at once, but it’s 60% protein and a rich source of phytonutrients. It’s an all-around superfood that provides a huge boost in vitamins A, K1, K2 and B12.

3. Kale – This is another one that just makes me feel healthier when I do it, but I can say with 110% confidence that you will not be able to taste this stuff at ALL. I’m all about adding veggies wherever I can and being able to hide some in my breakfast is pretty sweet.

4. Nut Butter or Powdered Peanut Butter – I think nut butter is that one component that helps the smoothie keep me fuller for that extra hour. I know it’s added fat, but it’s also added protein AND tastes amazing. I could probably survive off peanut butter, so adding it to my smoothies makes them taste like such a treat while also providing me with some added protein and fat.

5. Ground Chia Seeds – If there’s one thing that’s in my pantry at all times, it’s ground chia seeds. I like to have flax seeds too, but chia somehow always takes priority for me. Again, they’re pretty much un-tasteable yet somehow provide added fiber, omega 3’s, antioxidants and calcium and all you need is a tablespoon. That’s pretty freakin’ magical, don’t you think?

Dancing for Donuts | The Smoothie I've Had (Almost) Every Day in 2018 + My 5 Favorite Smoothie Add-Ins

Alright my friends, I hope you found this post helpful! I know it was a wordy one, but I wanted to make sure I provided you with some value today. But long story short, if you’re not having a green smoothie a day yet, it’s probably the easiest change you can make for your health 🙂

Have a great week!

Spicy Greek Yogurt Mustard Dip (with Air-Fried Tater Tots!)

Happy Happy Friday!!!

Dancing for Donuts | Spicy Mustard Greek Yogurt Dip (With Air Fried Tater Tots!)

This week really took it out of me guys, I’m so happy it’s the weekend!! And also, in case you didn’t know, apparently it is also National Tater Tots Day…obvs one of the most important holidays ever. To celebrate, I broke out my new air fryer from ToBox and made some insaaaaanely delicious and crispy tater tots with this easy peasy greek yogurt dip on the side. It. Was. AWESOME.

But I’m not going to lie to you, I was honestly really nervous to use my air fryer for the first time. I realize how irrational this is, considering air fryers are like 10x safer than regular fryers, I was slightly nervous that I’d burn down my kitchen or something😂

Dancing for Donuts | Spicy Mustard Greek Yogurt Dip (With Air Fried Tater Tots!)

Well, I could not have been more wrong because you literally just put your noms in the fryer basket, set it to a certain temperature and time, and then BOOM. Out pops your crunchy, crispy, air-fried goodness. I was kind of in shock at how simple it was and am now officially obsessed! I’ve been thinking of all the things I can air fry like chicken, and cauliflower wings, and hand pies…UGH the list just goes on! If you’d like to read more about why air fryers are awesome, I actually wrote about my experience on the ToBox blog!

I decided to make a dip on the side because, let’s face it, most things taste better with a lil somethin’ somethin’, you know? I’ve never been much of a ketchup girl (I know, don’t hate me), but mustard is one of my favorites! I figured pairing it with some cool & creamy greek yogurt would be the perfect contrast to the warm tater tots, and then the sriracha was just a fun addition. I think I might make this dip pretty often just for veggies, too! OH and if you have a Trader Joe’s nearby and can get your hands on their Everything But the Bagel Seasoning, DO that. And then put it on absolutely everything. You can thank me later…

Dancing for Donuts | Spicy Mustard Greek Yogurt Dip (With Air Fried Tater Tots!)

Spicy Greek Yogurt Mustard Dip

1/2 cup plain greek yogurt

2 tbsp mustard (I mixed dijon & spicy brown!)

3-6 dashes of Sriracha depending on your affinity for spice

pinch of sea salt

1-2 shakes TJ’s Everything But the Bagel Seasoning (optional)

1. In a medium sized bowl, combine all ingredients and stir well until yogurt turns completely yellow from the mustard.

2. Serve with hot tater tots and/or veggies!

Dancing for Donuts | Spicy Mustard Greek Yogurt Dip (With Air Fried Tater Tots!)

Alright friends, I hope you have a fantastic weekend!! And let me know in the comments if you have an air fryer too – I’d love to know what you make in them!!

January Favorites: Food, Wellness, Fitness & Beauty

Holy smokes, is it the end of January already?!

Dancing for Donuts | January Favorites - Food, Wellness, Fitness & Beauty

I’ve heard so many people saying that this month has totally dragged on for them, but for me it actually went by kind of quickly! Lots of movement, lots of change. It’s been exciting and stressful and interesting! Promise I will share more details very, very soon😉

This month was full of trying new products in everything from my diet to my beauty regimen and my fitness routine. I found some reallyyyyyy awesome things that have really helped me stay on track with my goals across the board and I know you’ll love them, too! Some of these items were gifts from the holidays, and some I just came across, but everything is linked so that you can find them. And now, in no particular order, my January favorites!…

Dancing for Donuts | January Favorites - Food, Wellness, Fitness & Beauty

Food:

Simple Mills Rosemary & Sea Salt Crackers – After seeing Simple Mills products alllll over my Insta-feed, I finally got my hands on some of these bad boys (they were on sale at Sprouts, #BlessUp). The big draw is that these are gluten-free, soy-free, and dairy free, although y’all know I’m not actually restrictive with my diet. I will say though that there’s just more nutritional value to crackers made with almond flour and honestly these crackers are just REALLY good. I ate the whole box in an hour, so that should tell you something😅

Trader Joe’s Soyrizo – GUYS. guys. Ok so I saw these written up somewhere as one of Trader Joe’s best selling products of 2017, so I decided to try using them in homemade burrito bowls for dinner one night. Full disclosure – I actually didn’t even tell my boyfriend it was vegan, and he totally loved it. The flavor is insane! And it’s really easy to make, too. I can’t wait to get it again and maybe at it to a scramble or some nachos!!

Fitness Bread – If I had to pick one thing from January that I was obsessed with, it would be this bread (pictured above as the avocado toast!). It’s by a German brand called Mestemacher and I remember my mom eating this when I was little. It’s made of rye flour, wheat germ, and oat fiber making it cholesterol free and high fiber. Each piece is thinly sliced, pretty dense, and a bit nutty. Aside from the fact that it’s got more nutritional value than many other breads, I seriously just think it tastes amazing. I’ve been seeing a lot of bloggers talking about gg crackers, and I’m not sure what the consistency of those is, but these are sooooo much cheaper. I found mine at Sprouts for like $4, but I’ve linked them here on Amazon too in case you don’t have one of those near you! I hiiiiighly recommend making your avocado toast with this. You can thank me later…

Wellness:

Garden of Life Women’s Multivitamin Gummies – If you saw my vlog, you’ll know that I take these every👏single👏day👏 I am obsessed. They taste really good, and are kind of like a little sweet treat, so that’s most likely why I like them so much #LetsBeReal…but they’re also filled with all kind of nutrients we need and may not be getting from our food. I’ve mentioned Garden of Life on my blog before, but I seriously love this brand. They make high quality proteins, supplements and bars and everything is vegan, which is always a plus!

Hair, Skin and Nails Gummies – Another one I mentioned in the blog, I’ve been taking these gummies for years. My nails are super brittle for some reason so I’ll take these in addition to the mulitivitamin above. Since the multivitamin I take contains 100% of the suggested daily value, and two of the Hair, Skin and Nails Gummies is like 1000%, I’ll just take one. That way I’m getting extra biotin without causing my body to overproduce oil (hellooooo breakouts). Just check whichever vitamins you take to see the percentage, but make sure you get enough biotin without it being too much!

Fitness:

Booty Bands – My brother bought me these for Christmas after I kept seeing booty band workouts on YouTube and I’m in LOVE. These are so great for glute activation before a workout, or even just a booty band workout in itself! I’m really trying to work on my tush before summer (it’s one of those areas I’m just overly self-conscious about for no reason) so having the bands for extra resistance allows me to work them a bit harder. I promise I’ll put a workout with these up soon! Don’t let me forget…

Ab Gliders – So these were also part of that same holiday gift, and I also think they’re an essential for any home gym! You can put your feet or hands on them, and they work on any kind of floor since they just slide along. If you’ve ever used a pilates reformer, it’s kind of the same sensation in that you really have to engage your muscles so that you’re not just sliding all over the place. These prove that you don’t need any fancy equipment to work your core (or anything) else, though!

Beauty:

OleHenriksen Banana Bright Undereye Cream – Full transparency on this one, I received this as a free sample so I didn’t necessarily have high hopes, but I am looooooving this cream. I’m not sure if it really brightens the undereye so much as makes it hydrated and smooth, so it’s a perfect base for concealer (a must for actually looking like I get enough sleep!).  I think my favorite part of this product is just the fact that it makes me feel like I have a real skincare routine now – something I never had before and feel is increasingly necessary as I get older! It has vitamin c in it, which is apparently very good for the skin, so I’ll take it!

Aesop Hand Cream – This was a gift from my coworker and oh MAN does it make me feel fancy! I know this one isn’t cheap, so I’m extra thankful it was given to me (thanks Shane!) because it is sooo luxurious. If you read my post on my focus words for 2018, you know I’m trying to focus more on loving myself, which essentially means splurging on the things that make me feel good. Bath and body products are 100% included in this because can you honestly tell me anything better than a hot shower at the end of the day that makes you feel like you’re at a spa? So yeah, putting this hand cream on after that shower makes me feel like a straight up QUEEN and I highly recommend it!

Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser – I don’t know about you, but I have been maaaaajorly struggling with my skin these days. I wouldn’t call it adult acne necessarily, but it’s not that far off and as someone who didn’t really have acne before, it makes me super frustrated and self-conscious. I’ve tried a ton of cleansers in the last year and the only one that seems to make my skin feel really clear is this one. I’ve been using it for about two weeks now and love it so much. It’s slightly more expensive than other cleansers, but definitely cheaper than many and it comes in a huge bottle. I think it’s SO worth it if you’re having trouble finding something that works for you!

Well, that’s all for January! Let me know in the comments if you’ve found anything this month that you’re loving – always on the hunt for cool stuff😉

Cheers to a wonderful February ahead!

Spinach and Goat Cheese Egg White Frittata

Dancing for Donuts | Spinach & Goat Cheese Egg White Frittata with AllWhites®

Happy Monday, friends! I’m comin’ atcha today with a super tasty, healthy and protein-packed breakfast recipe!

So as you know, I’ve been trying to get my health and fitness back on this year (just like pretty much everyone else in 2018!). I started taking all kinds of different classes and revamping my routine to keep things fun and interesting, and I’ve gotten a bit more on track in terms of my eats. I always preach about preparation and how stocking your fridge with tons of healthy ingredients can make all the difference in the world when it comes to sticking to your goals. And hough this recipe is quite possibly the easiest thing in the world to make, it does require you to add just a few items to your grocery list😉

Dancing for Donuts | Spinach & Goat Cheese Egg White Frittata with AllWhites®

I’ve always been a fan of eggs because they’re incredibly nutritious, inexpensive, and easy to make. They keep me full throughout a workout without that bloating feeling that comes when I have yogurt or smoothies sometimes. But while I love a good yolk, they are slightly higher in cholesterol, whereas the whites are a low-calorie, low-cholesterol source of protein. I also grew up in a household where my parents ate only egg-whites, mostly because they didn’t like the taste of the yolk, but I can tell you that cracking a ton of eggs just to get enough whites for a substantial omelette was neither the quickest nor most enjoyable task. The perfect solution to this is to just buy the egg whites in a container so that they’re ready to go when you need them!

Dancing for Donuts | Spinach & Goat Cheese Egg White Frittata with AllWhites®

I was recently introduced to AllWhites® 100% liquid egg whites, which are incredibly convenient to keep on hand. They’re fat-free, cholesterol-free, low in calories and carbs, and high in lean protein. You can find them by the eggs in your grocery store and like I said, they maaaajorly take the effort out of getting the egg whites out of a cracked egg (and avoid having to waste the yolk, too!). The frittata I’ve been making on repeat with AllWhites has fueled me throughout barre workouts, cardio workouts, and more importantly, a morning at work because the struggle. is. REAL.

Dancing for Donuts | Spinach & Goat Cheese Egg White Frittata with AllWhites®

This frittata recipe combines AllWhites liquid egg whites with just a touch of low fat milk, nutrient-rich spinach, flavorful onion and creamy goat cheese for a super delicious dish that tastes decadent but contains soooo many good-for-you ingredients! The prep is minimal, just a touch of dicing and whisking, and then the skillet/oven really do the rest of the work for you. If you don’t have a skillet, just use an oven safe pan, but I will say that the skillet helps cook the eggs evenly. This dish perfectly serves two, but if you’re eating for one, just wrap the leftovers up in seran wrap or a tupperware, and save it for the next day. Doesn’t get more convenient than that, my friends!

Dancing for Donuts | Spinach & Goat Cheese Egg White Frittata with AllWhites®

Spinach and Goat Cheese Egg White Frittata

1 1/4 cup AllWhites® egg whites

2 tbsp low fat milk

1 tbsp butter

1/2 cup diced onion

2 handfuls spinach

3 tbsp goat chees

sea salt

pepper

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit and whisk egg whites and milk in a bowl until light & frothy.

2. Melt butter in the skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, a pinch or two of salt, and cook thoroughly. Add the spinach too, and cook for another 2 minutes or until wilted.

3. Add the egg mixture over the top of the onions and spinach. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Take a spatula and make sure the eggs flow to the bottom of the pan as opposed to on the sides of the pan.

4. Once the frittata is half set (and the egg whites on the sides are turning to a more solid colored white), top with pieces of goat cheese and transfer to the oven. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden.

Friday Finds

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds

MAN this week was a long one! I’m super looking forward to having some me-time this weekend…anyone else?! I’ve been seeing people taking baths with those gorgeous and colorful Lush bath bombs a lot lately, which may be good motivation to clean my tub and then hop in there! I’ve never tried using one, but they seem glorious.

I don’t know why, but this week not only felt long, but kind of hard to get through, and not even because work has been overly stressful or anything. I think after the holidays I have a bit of a slump, just because the excitement of Christmas is obviously gone and there’s not much on the horizon. I kid you not, I literally looked up last-minute tickets for a Hawaii getaway at the end of the month randomly during my lunch on Tuesday…who knows if I’ll actually pull the trigger but it sounded SO lovely in the moment!

Anyway, back to the usj! Here’s what I’ve been reading this week:

How to Get Healthy on a Budget – Allllll about these tips. And that discount activewear business is REAL. I was just talking to my mom about this yesterday but there is NO need to spend $100 on great workout pants anymore. Save your money for something else!

The Best Search Engines for Finding Cheap Flights – For anyone else feeling that travel bug hard this month!!!

Pistachio Coconut Oatmeal – I’ve been having so many smoothies that leave me utterly freezing after I down them, so I’m thinking of adding warm oats to the rotation! These flavors sound incredible, which is no surprise since literally everything Jessica makes is unreal!

Permission to Do Less – Why do we always measure our worthiness based on our productivity?

6 Effective Workouts You Can Do in 30 Minutes or Less – ‘Cause honestly who has the time to put in an hour or more at the gym these days?!

10 Kitchen + Pantry Essentials for a Healthy New Year – This one’s another one of mine for ToBox, but I truly wanted to put it on here, too! These are some things I’m stocking up on this month to get my health & fitness routine back on track.

What about you guys? Have you found any new favorite blogs lately? Are you heading out for some mid-winter travels soon? Tell me where and make me jealous😉
