Poolside Snackin’ with My/Mochi Ice Cream

Dancing for Donuts | Poolside Snackin' With My/Mochi Ice Cream #ad

Happy Tuesday, friends! I just landed back in LA from a weekend in DC for a wedding and ooooohhh baby was it HOT. We were planning on spending Sunday out and about and we actually just ended up hanging out poolside all day with my boyfriend’s friends and family!

Whether I’m at the beach or the pool, I alwaysss like to bring snacks. I mean, let’s be real, I always like to bring snacks no matter where I am😅 And though I try to bring foods that will fill me up (like protein & fiber-filled fruit/veggies/bars), summer to me basically means ICE CREAM. Life is about balance, right you guys?

Dancing for Donuts | Poolside Snackin' With My/Mochi Ice Cream #ad

Mochi is one of my favorite ways to eat ice cream (it’s contained when it starts to melt, I don’t need a spoon, it’s pre-portioned, etc.) and My/Mochi Ice Cream is easily my go-to brand. They have 7 different flavors and judging from how insanely creamy and delicious the Sweet Mango and Mint Chip My/Mochi Ice Cream flavors were, I can only imagine what the others are like (I’m lookin’ at you, Salted Caramel & Strawberry).

If you’ve never had mochi before, it can be kind of hard to describe, but I’ll do my best and tell you that it’s like sinking your teeth into a magical ice cream pillow. For serious. I grabbed my boxes of My/Mochi Ice Cream at Safeway, but you can find them all over (just double check their Store Locator first!).

Dancing for Donuts | Poolside Snackin' With My/Mochi Ice Cream #ad

Aside from the convenience and ridiculously tasty flavors, My/Mochi Ice Cream is only 110 calories per serving, which makes it the perfect little sweet snack when you’re schvitzing through summer. They’re also kind of just, fun? I don’t know if that makes sense, but I personally think food is more enjoyable to eat when it offers some kind of experience, y’know what I mean?

Dancing for Donuts | Poolside Snackin' With My/Mochi Ice Cream #ad

So yeah, my ideal poolside summer essentials list would probably contain the following:

some SPF for my face/body

a v large water bottle

My/Mochi Ice Cream

a good book

cute sunnies

good company

And there ya have it my friends! If you haven’t tried mochi before, or even if you have, I highly recommend trying My/Mochi Ice Cream because I promise you will fall in love. I can’t wait to try the other flavors – which one would you try first?!

Frosé Vosé With Three Olives

It’s starting to feel like summer, you guys😍

Dancing for Donuts | Frosé Vosé with Three Olives Rosé Vodka

I know I live in LA where it’s nice all the time (comparatively speaking), but starting to warm up which meaaaans…dinner & drinks outside!! I love a good, refreshing drink on a hot day, especially when I’m with my friends or on vacation. Two of my favorites are a chilled glass of rosĂ© (because yes, I am a basic millennial💁) and a vodka soda, but have you ever thought to combine the two?! Well, I hadn’t, but thank goodness Three Olives came through in the clutch with their new rosĂ© vodka – it is a GAME. Changer.

Dancing for Donuts | Frosé Vosé with Three Olives Rosé Vodka

I actually just tried making frosĂ© for the very first time with the new Three Olives RosĂ© Vodka and you guys, I can’t even tell you how freakin’ delicious it was Slightly citrusy with just a touch of sweetness, and the absolute perfect combination of a glass of rosĂ© and a summer cocktail. So, if you’re looking for the perfect cocktail to take you from day to night this summer, look no further.

Dancing for Donuts | Frosé Vosé with Three Olives Rosé Vodka

5 Recipes to Make Before Summer Ends.

Hi again, friends!

Dancing for Donuts | Peach Caprese Pasta Salad.

I hope y’all are having a wonderful week so far and enjoying the last few weeks of summer! I know I legitimately say this each and every month, but I honestly can’t believe how quickly August is flying by. Fun fact: this is actually my very first summer working a full-time 9-5 job, which I think is making time pass by even faster since summer didn’t feel all that different from spring. Although, that’s partly just an LA weather thing, which I’m fully aware of…haha

Before the season ends though, I’m trying to take advantage of all the wonderful produce summer brings like berries, watermelon, stone fruit and tomatoes. I wanted to share with you a quick round-up of my favorite recipes with these delicious fruits and veggies so that you can enjoy them, too!

Berry Chia Protein Pudding – Make a huge batch and keep it in the fridge for a quick & healthy snack or breakfast!

Dancing for Donuts | Blueberry Banana Baked Oatmeal Cups.

Banana Blueberry Baked Oatmeal Cups – Another amazing make-ahead recipe for babes on budgets & on-the-go!

Dancing for Donuts | Peach Caprese Pasta Salad.

Peach Caprese Pasta Salad – This one’s quite possibly one of my all-time favorite summer recipes! It’s super fresh and only a few ingredients. Perfect for dinner or lunch on a hot summer day 🙂

Dancing for Donuts | Classic Key-Lime Pie.

Classic Key Lime Pie – The perfect mix of sweet and tart, this one’s a crowd-pleaser for sure. Make it for your end-of-summer cookout or to bring to a friend’s house!

Dancing for Donuts | Summer Sips

Sparkling Lemonade – This recipe is super easy, delicious, and just 2 ingredients. Mix your favorite lemonade (I love Hubert’s Diet Strawberry Lemonade!) with sparkling water and you’ve got yourself the perfect summer drink. You could even spike it with vodka if you’re feeling frisky 😉

Alright y’all, that’s it for today! Tell me, what recipes are you planning on making before the summer’s over?!

July Favorites.

I swear I say this every month, but where the F is time going?!

Dancing for Donuts | July Favorites.

I mean literally, this year has flown by, I feel like I’ve barely blinked and tomorrow is August already. Although I will admit, I was going through my photos on the plane back from Napa this weekend (aka my favorite thing to do when I don’t have wifi) and I’ve done a looooot this year already! Like way more traveling and adventuring than I’ve ever done in years past, and that makes me feel better about 2017 being more than half over. Okay anyway, here’s what I’ve found and loved this past month:

Dancing for Donuts | July Favorites.

Perfect Bar– Ok so I finally tried one of these bad boys! I had to run into Whole Foods (which I never do) and had to splurge for one because I’ve been seeing them everywhere and have only heard good things. I went for the Maple Almond and it was so. friggin’. tasty. 13g of protein + superfoods + gluten-free + real ingredients?! I mean hello, this is a no-brainer. The hype is real because this thing legitimately kept me full unlike most other bars. Granted, it has more calories and costs more so I would hope it would be more of a hefty snack, but yeah. Cannot wait to try the other flavors!

Dancing for Donuts | July Favorites.

Suja Probiotic Juice Drink – So there was one Sunday that I literally ran around like a crazy person in the heat and then decided to go for a 3 mile walk before work and was therefore insaaanely dehydrated. I wanted kombucha, but found this instead and it was suuuuper yummy! I think it was on sale (2 for $5) so I figured why not, and I’m so glad I tried it. It tasted like a juice and was really refreshing, plus it had probiotics, which I like to have every single day. It didn’t have a vinegar-y taste like kombucha does, though (which I thought was a good thing!).

Dancing for Donuts | July Favorites.

Pressed Juicery Freeze – This was another thing I was absolutely dying to try after seeing it all over the food-blogging world! I got some on National Ice Cream Day because I was trying to bounce back from a few indulgent days and it was absolutely delicious. So creamy and flavorful, but also really light! I added cacao nibs, strawberries and coconut on top of the vanilla bean, which is made out of their vanilla almond milk, and I was obsessed. The only downside is that this cup cost $6, but hey, #yolo.

Dancing for Donuts | July Favorites.

Carrot Cake Cookies – I found a healthy breakfast cookie recipe on Pinterest a few weeks ago, and tweaked it to make it even healthier! That didn’t take away any flavor though, these cookies were so good!! They’re basically oats, applesauce, carrots and maple syrup, plus a few other superfoods, so they were pretty dense. I would have a couple each afternoon and they were the perfect pre-workout snack! I love things that are slightly sweet without actually having a crap ton of sugar in them, since I like to have something sweet pretty much after every meal. Can’t wait to make these again and share the full recipe with you guys!

Dancing for Donuts | July Favorites.

Alkani Cold Brew Maker – I think I may have saved the best for last because this thing is a GAME. CHANGER. Alkani sent me their cold brew maker a few weeks ago and it has been actual heaven each morning when a) my coffee is already made b) it’s cold and c) it’s delicious. All you have to do is put a cup (or so) of fresh coffee grounds in the metal strainer in the middle, wait 24 hours and boom done. The coffee it makes is so smooth and I love the design of it, too!

All of my favorites are linked just under this post! Tell me, what have you been loving lately?! Any good grocery finds?

Rainbow Summer Salad with Mango + Black Beans.

Hi friends! I hope everyone is doing well this week and soaking up the summer sun!

Dancing for Donuts | Rainbow Summer Salad with Mango + Black Beans

One of the things I wanted to do more of this summer was take advantage of seasonal produce. I know living in California we get super spoiled, but it doesn’t mean that our fruits and veggies aren’t even better in the warmer months! I honestly can’t think of anything better on a hot day than a cold, juicy peach. Okay maybe ice cream…but you know what I’m sayin’! Since summer also tends to lend itself to more treats (and possibly alcohol because helloooooo rosĂ©), I’ve been using the delicious seasonal produce we have at our fingertips to motivate my healthy eating habits when I’m not indulging. Hey, life is about balance, right?

Dancing for Donuts | Rainbow Summer Salad with Mango + Black Beans

This salad has been one of my favorites this past week paired with a grilled steak or some chicken! I’m hoping I’m not the only one who loves fruit in their salads, because the ripe mango in this is booooooomb. I added black beans for extra staying power, but they add a nice texture, too. I think if you were trying to make this a full meal, you could add avocado and maybe some quinoa or farro! A super easy dressing (lemon + balsamic + EVOO) makes this salad so refreshing on a hot day! I definitely recommend making this salad with heirloom tomatoes – they’re the BEST and nothing beats the flavor. Arugula was also my green of choice because its bitterness goes perfectly with the mango, but you could totally do kale or spinach instead!

Dancing for Donuts | Rainbow Summer Salad with Mango + Black Beans

Rainbow Summer Salad

4 cups rinsed arugula

1/2 can black beans

1 ripe mango, chopped

1 cup chopped heirloom tomatoes

4-6 sweet mini peppers, chopped

1/4 red onion, halved and thinly sliced

1 juice of 1 lemon

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

sea salt to taste

1. In a large bowl, toss together all ingredients except for lemon juice, oil and vinegar.

2. In a small cup or bowl, whisk together the lemon juice olive oil, and balsamic. Drizzle over the salad an toss to coat evenly.

3. Eat immediately and enjoy! *If you’d like to make this salad ahead of time, just keep the dressing separate (in a mason jar or airtight container) and dress when ready to eat.

What seasonal produce are you loving lately?!

June Favorites | Health + Wellness.

Hi from Cabo San Lucas, friends!!

If you don’t see me much in the next week it’s because I’m trying to unplug a bit, but I did want to share my monthly favorites with you so here they are!

IMG_0896.jpg

Q-Band Fitness Tracker – I’ve mentioned before how obsessed I am with walks these days (and podcasts while I’m on them!) and the folks over at Mobile Action were kind enough to send me their new Q-Band fitness tracker! I don’t have a Fitbit or anything to compare it to, but I love that it gives me a more accurate step count without needing to always have my phone on me (for the Health app!). It also holds a charge for basically ever, which is awesome!!

IMG_0797.jpg

I Heart Keenwah Quinoa Puffs in Sea Salt Truffle – Ok so in all honesty, and don’t hate me for this, I’m not really a chips person…like I like them and I will absolutely shovel in an entire bag in 10 minutes if it’s there, but I don’t actually buy them for myself. Or savory snacks in general, really. But! Sometimes you just need something salty, even if you have a raging sweet tooth, know what I mean? These quinoa puffs are so damn tasty and only 120 calories per serving – there are 3 servings total in a bag (they’re big!) so I tried to split my bag into snacks for 2 days, but it was probably more like 70/30 😉

Dancing for Donuts | June Favorites

Summer Peaches – Apologies for the less than stellar desk photo, but is anyone else obsessed with peaches? I literally can’t think of anything better than a juicy peach, especially when it’s hot AF outside. The only issue is that they’re really only good during the summer season, so you have to really stock up and kind of OD on ’em. I splurged for farmer’s market peaches a few weeks ago and have been dreaming of them since we ran out!

IMG_0902.jpg

Santa Barbara Bar in Coconut Almond – You know me, forever a bar girl 🙂 I brought this one to the beach because it didn’t have any coating or chocolate on it to melt (that’s the worst when it makes a mess and you don’t have any napkins to clean it up). It was the perfect mid-morning snack and had a hint of sweetness and coconut, but not too much. I also liked that it wasn’t super dry like Nature Valley or Clif bars!

Dancing for Donuts | June Favorites

Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant in Lavender + Sage – So I was in the market for a natural deodorant for a looooong time because the thought of putting a bunch of chemicals right near my lymph nodes (and deodorant has been directly linked to breast cancer, ladies!). I did a bunch of research and it seems like if you switch straight from regular to natural deodorant it won’t work to prevent an odor (which, let’s be honest, is something i seriously need), so I did about a week of detoxing where I didn’t wear anything at all. It must’ve worked because my Schmidt’s has been amazing so far. No smell or anything, not to mention that there are zero white marks on my clothes and even when I’m sweating, no sweat marks show up. Super important!

Alright y’all that’s it for now. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and Happy 4th of July!

Friday Finds.

Wait, it’s Friday already?!

This week absolutely flew by for me, and I ain’t mad about it. I had two super fun fitness events this week after crazy busy days at work, so that might have something to do with it! It’s safe to say I’m happy it’s the weekend, though 🙂

Dancing for Donuts | Friday Finds.

Here’s what I’ve found across the web this week. Have you come across anything noteworthy? Let me know in the comments!

Matcha Mojitos – WAIT. What?! Give me allllll the matcha!

The Reasons it’s Important to Have Multiple Streams of Income – Yes, yes, YES. I’ve been saying this for years and I’ll continue to do so because this advice is the JAM.

10 Things I Buy from Trader Joe’s for No-Cook Dinners – A must because 1) it’s hot AF rn and spending time in front of a stove or oven is hell. and 2) ain’t nobody got time for that.

4 Insanely Effective Ways to Sharpen Your Focus When You HAVE to Get Sh*t Done – Does anyone else have trouble focusing in the summer?! It’s hard not to think about being at the beach or on vacation when you’re stuck at your desk, y’know?

26 Things to Do This Summer – In case you haven’t gotten a chance to make a summer bucket list yet!

4th of July Chia Pudding – Since it doesn’t hurt to start planning your holiday menu early 😉

That’s all for today, friends. Hope everyone has a wonderful summer weekend!

My Summer Bucket List.

I know summer doesn’t technically start until June 20th, but it sure feels like summer already to me 🙂

Dancing for Donuts | Summer Bucket List.

I’ve always been a fan of creating bucket lists for each season, mostly because they’re fun to make and even more fun to cross off. Being an adult definitely means summer is less fun & games than it used to be, but I still love to take advantage of everything the months have to offer. LA is kind of an anomaly in the sense that seasons don’t totally exist here (and yes, the sun does shine year round), but there are a ton of things that happen here only during summer months, like outdoor concerts, movies, and special events. Not to mention the weather is warmer, so you don’t need a sweater to lay on the beach!

Here’s my list for 2017 (so far):

What’s on your summer bucket list?! Do you like to make bucket lists for each season, too?

3-Ingredient Fizzy Popsicles [or Slushies!]

This 3-Ingredient Fizzy Popsicle recipe is sponsored by my friends over at Sparkling Ice, but all words, photos and opinions are mine!

Dancing for Donuts | 3-Ingredient Fizzy Popsicles with Sparkling Ice.

Okay so I guess it’s like, legitimately summer now, huh?

This is my first summer in 3 years that I’m not on break from grad school, and it honestly feels pretty weird. Like I still have to go to work everyday and nothing actually changes at all, especially because it’s pretty much summer in LA all year round, #letsbehonest. The one thing I do every single summer though, is go visit my family’s beach house in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I’m constantly counting down the days until I get to go to my favorite place on the planet and just take all of the summer-y, beachy bliss.

Dancing for Donuts | 3-Ingredient Fizzy Popsicles with Sparkling Ice.

One of my favorite things to do there is sit by our pool in the afternoon (after some beach time, of course) with a cold drink and some snacks. Since ice water gets a little old, we like to stock our fridge with flavored sparkling water so that it’s still healthy, but feels fancy. And then you can feel gangster AF on your unicorn float, know what I mean?

Dancing for Donuts | 3-Ingredient Fizzy Popsicles with Sparkling Ice.

(s/o to Mama & Papa D for snapping this photo in NC!)

Sparkling Ice has been an old favorite of ours, since it comes in a bajillion flavors and has zero calories (!!). Now that I live in a place where it’s warm enough to drink cold drinks all the time, I like to keep it on hand for when I want something that’s more refreshing than water but isn’t soda. Trust me, I know it sounds crazy to think there could be something more refreshing than water, but sometimes it just doesn’t hit the spot. Especially when you’re also kind of hungry, which is generally me always…

Dancing for Donuts | 3-Ingredient Fizzy Popsicles with Sparkling Ice.

I wanted to find a way to combine my favorite summertime beverage with my other favorite thing in the world: DESSERT. And can you literally come up with anything better than an ice cold popsicle when you’ve just come back from a sweaty a$$ workout or just need an afternoon snack to cool you down? Didn’t think so 🙂

Dancing for Donuts | 3-Ingredient Fizzy Popsicles with Sparkling Ice.

I think the absolute best thing about these popsicles, aside from the fact that they’re insanely refreshing and the perfect amount of sweetness with zero-added sugar, is that you can customize them with any of Sparkling Ice’s 15 flavors, which are all available on Amazon Prime (in case you decide that you need to make these in no more than 48 hours  because trust me, you do). You essentially just take half a bottle of your favorite Sparkling Ice flavor, some canned coconut milk, and whatever frozen fruit you’d like and mix ’em together.

Dancing for Donuts | 3-Ingredient Fizzy Popsicles with Sparkling Ice.

AND if you’re feeling extra fancy, you can even throw some liquor in there (Strawberry Daquiri popsicles, anyone?). Okay last point though for real, if you don’t have a popsicle maker, just put the mixture into ice cube trays and blend that sh*t up with a few tablespoons of water to get things going. Then BOOM, slushies.

Dancing for Donuts | 3-Ingredient Fizzy Popsicles with Sparkling Ice.

Fizzy Mango Pineapple Coconut Popsicles

1/2 Bottle of Sparkling Ice Coconut Pineapple (save the rest for a drink!)

1/2 cup canned lite coconut milk

1/2 cup frozen mango chunks

1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and pulse until mango has completely broken down.

2. Pour mixture into a popsicle maker (or ice cube trays to blend up into slushie!) for at least 2 hours. If you’re blending your ice cubes for a slushie, just add a couple of tablespoons of water to get things moving, and keep some ice cubes whole to keep your drink cold! Dig in and pretend you’re on a tropical island in a giant sun hat being fabulous (unless you actually are, and then no need to pretend. Get it, girl.)

Dancing for Donuts | 3-Ingredient Fizzy Popsicles with Sparkling Ice.

Fizzy Strawberry Lemonade Popsicles

1/2 Bottle of Sparkling Ice Lemonade (save the rest for a drink!)

1/2 cup canned lite coconut milk

1/2 cup frozen strawberries

1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and pulse until strawberries have completely broken down.

2. Pour mixture into a popsicle maker (or ice cube trays to blend up into slushie!) for at least 2 hours. Enjoy!

Dancing for Donuts | 3-Ingredient Fizzy Popsicles with Sparkling Ice.

3-Ingredient Strawberry Protein Pops.

I know I know, I can’t remember the last time I posted a recipe either.

This summer has been both crazy and amazing in all the ways you can imagine. I went on two incredible vacations to Hawaii and Portugal, am about to hop on a plane to another, worked my butt off but also went to the beach a fair amount, tried new things and met new people. I’m back from my blogging break now, though, and let me tell you it is hot out there today!

Dancing for Donuts | 3-Ingredient Strawberry Protein Pops.

I highly suggest you do yourself a favor and throw some greek yogurt, frozen berries and milk in a blender because that’s literally all that’s in these popsicles. Not a fan of strawberries? Try mango, pineapple, banana, blueberries or a combo of all of ’em! I added honey and vanilla extract for good measure, but you totally don’t have to. Also if you don’t have a popsicle mold, or Amazon Prime where you can impulse purchase one for less than $10, use a muffin tin or dixie cups and popsicle sticks!

Dancing for Donuts | 3-Ingredient Strawberry Protein Pops.

3-Ingredient Strawberry Protein Pops

1 cup frozen strawberries

1 container of non-fat plain greek yogurt

1 cup almond milk (+ more if you need to get the mix going)

1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

1 tbsp honey (optional)

  1. In a blender, combine all of the ingredients and pulse until smooth. Add water or extra milk if necessary.

2. Pour or gently spoon the mix into a popsicle mold and freeze for at least 2 hours.

3. When ready to eat, remove and enjoy. Sometimes it helps to run the popsicle mold until hot water for a few seconds or even let the mold sit out for 5 minutes before removing!

Dancing for Donuts | 3-Ingredient Strawberry Protein Pops.

I’ll be back soon, I promise!
