Monday Motivation.

Hey y’all!

So I totally missed out on posting my usual Friday Finds last week (’cause it was cray), but because today is the start of both a new week and a new month, I feel like now is an appropriate time for a quick check-in. I was talking to a friend over coffee this morning about how January felt like a month of clarity almost, like all the chaos was just to get us pointed in the right direction for the rest of 2016. I don’t know about you, but I feel more motivated and focused than ever, and I can’t wait to see what February brings!

Dancing for Donuts | Monday Motivation.

As for workouts, I tried a new class at a local studio here called FLIGHT and looooooooved it. It’s a mix of dance, cardio and yoga all set to EDM music and i literally couldn’t walk for 3 days afterwards. I’m totally hooked though, I’ve already gotten my 5-class pack and can’t wait to go back! I’m also loving the recent workouts from the Tone It Up girls like the one below. I still have a few leftover pounds from the holidays to get rid of if ya know what I’m sayin…

Friday Finds + Favorites.

Well, we made it. It’s the weekend before Thanksgiving and I literally could not be happier!

The auto show this week was absolute chaos and my thesis is winding down to a finished product *thank goodness* so from here on out, I’d like to dedicate at least half of my brain capacity to thinking about holiday cooking, holiday baking, holiday decorations, holiday clothing and watching holiday movies. And, in light of all that, I’ve been pinning all the holiday goodness like a madwoman. I also wanted to share with you some of the grocery-store buys that have been saving my life lately, so you can find those first above all the links 🙂

3 Ways to Make Your Morning Better.

Heeeeeey, Monday.

I actually woke up this morning to find out that I got called off work (WHAT?!), so today is more like a Sunday for me. But! For those of you who don’t have the day to catch up on errands and blog post, I’m here to bring you some light reading and share some easy ways to make your morning feel  like a fresh, positive start to the day no matter what.

Dancing for Donuts | 3 Ways to Make Your Morning Better.

Perk Up Your Morning Joe. Can I tell you I made THE best cup of coffee today?! I’ve been buying this ridiculously cheap coffee since my trip to Austin back in June (that’s what they had at our AirBnB) and I’m obsessed. It’s extremely strong, so I use exactly 2 tablespoons for about 2 mugs of coffee, and that’s literally how I measure it…I fill 2 mugs and pour them in. Works like a charm. Then, and here’s the really good part, I put in a couple shakes of ground cinnamon, a shake of ground ginger, and a shake of nutmeg. Trust me on this, IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Oh, and I do this all year round, not just in the fall when people are obsessed with pumpkin spice. Plus, cinnamon is crazy good for you. Do ettttttttt.

Dancing for Donuts | 3 Ways to Make Your Morning Better.

Have a Real Breakfast. Now I know y’all have heard this one many times before, but having a breakfast with real foods is so important to not only your health but also your mind. Having nutrients found in veggies, fruits, whole grains, and protein can kick start your brain to boost productivity and fuel you for the day ahead. Lately I’ve been making a 1 egg-2 egg white omelette and topping it with black beans and salsa (not the prettiest breakfast ever, but you get the gist). I find that on days that I eat non-processed foods, I have more energy for work or the gym, crave sugary foods less, and stay full for longer.

Dancing for Donuts | 3 Ways to Make Your Morning Better.

Set Yourself Up for Success. So this last one is really different for everyone, depending upon what your day looks like and what you want to accomplish. But whatever that may be, write it down. Make a to-do list, write out a schedule, and put it in your planner. If you can see exactly what needs to be done, you can get yourself ready and set aside the time to do it. Not to mention you’re more likely to remember something once you write it down. I live by my iCalendar and planner. So today, for example, I’ve written down “homework, gym, groceries, blog, and clean bathroom.” Isn’t my life grand?! But hey, a day off’s a day off.

Well I’m off to tackle that list ^ but I hope you all have wonderful days!!

Friday Finds.

Aaaaaand just like that, it’s Friday again.

I won’t bore you with more complaining about the weather (is it confusing you guys too, or is it just me?), or talk about how school and work have me totally slacking at the gym, but I will say that I’m very, very excited for Halloween and lots of other things that seem to be in works. Hence why I treated myself to two macarons yesterday from Bottega Louie…stay tuned! 🙂
