Officially Mrs. Friendly

We did a thing…

Just over two weeks ago, we got MARRIED!!

Alex and I originally met in March of 2016 on Tinder, but we were actually in the same year business school at UCLA! I was in the part time program on nights and weekends, and he was full time, so we never would have met without the app, but it’s a fun and serendipitous part of our story that I love 🙂

After 5 years of dating, 3 and a half years of living together, and 2 years of being dog parents, we got engaged in Breckenridge, Colorado in March of 2021. Our wedding was in Hilton Head, South Carolina on May 7th, 2022, and it was perfect.

I’ll be honest with you, I never envisioned myself having a real wedding and for years we talked about eloping, but our compromise was a private ceremony in my parent’s backyard with immediate family only, then a small reception. It was beautiful, intimate, and an absolute blast! When it comes down to it, I’m truly so grateful we got to reunite with our families and friends after so much time apart, and it was incredible seeing all of our loved ones together!

My mother was our officiant, we wrote our own vows, and had just a few traditional Jewish traditions like a chuppah and the breaking of the wine glasses at the end of the ceremony. We decided that both Alex and I would break the glasses (usually it’s just the groom) to symbolize equality, which I loved so much!

After the ceremony, we took photos at the house with everyone, then just the two of us at the beach by our reception venue: The Beach Club in Sea Pines. We “entered” our party by walking across the bridge that leads from the beach to the club and the entire restaurant stood up and clapped for us while our guests up on the second floor balcony did, too! It was so fun and probably one of my favorite moments of the whole day!

The dinner was amazing (mainly seafood since it’s too good in Hilton Head to pass up!) and for cake we did carrot, plus a donut wall, of course! We danced up a storm and had such a blast – just writing about it makes me miss a bit! It feels like it was yesterday and months ago all at the same time.

A few of my other favorite parts of the weekend: the few days leading up to it because we had a charming rental home right on the water together, the day before welcome bbq, the night before dinner we did with just our immediate families so we could all have quality time together, and the morning of our wedding when Alex, my parents and I grabbed breakfast on the fly (I didn’t have a bridal party and I did my own hair/makeup, so the day was actually pretty relaxing leading up to the party!). We also had a day after brunch, which was important to me so we could see everyone one last time.

I’m so excited to finally be married to the love of my life and enter this next chapter of our lives together – I have a feeling it’s going to be a wonderful one 🙂
