It’s been a heartbreaking week.
I’ve shared a bit of my thoughts on Instagram, but I feel like it’s important for me to speak out on here, too. It is no longer acceptable to “not have the right words” or be afraid to upset your followers or lose them.
I don’t know a lot of things – how racism still exists in a country that promises justice and freedom for all, how to fully process the murder of George Floyd and the riots that followed, how to tell you I’m disappointed and sad without offending anyone – but i do know this: if we are kind to ALL people, regardless of how they look, what they do, how much they make or where they’re from, we can overcome this.
I acknowledge how privileged I am to even be sitting in my apartment and have a laptop to write this post. I acknowledge my privilege of coming from a white, upper middle-class family (in an extremely un-diverse suburb, at that). but this is just my start. I have so far to go in the fight for anti-racism. we all do. And here’s where I’m starting:
FREE WAYS TO HELP
Text FLOYD to 55156 and text JUSTICE to 668366 (both to sign petitions to hold the officers accountable for their actions)

I hope this week you can find time to do the work with me. Let’s learn and re-shape the future of this country together. And most importantly, let’s remember to VOTE.
