what to do in
the tuscan countryside
travel guide:
dancing for donuts
visit the charming medieval towns
i recommend spending several days there with a car so you can easily explore the following cities
siena
the closest of the medieval towns to florence and definitely the most popular! the central piazza del campo is stunning
cortona
if you're familiar with the movie "under the tuscan sun," it was filmed in this gorgeous and quaint town!
arezzo
this was my favorite of all the towns! it's more metropolitan/less touristy and the square is beautiful
go wine tasting
this is where the best italian wine comes from, so make sure to visit a few vineyards! there are a ton in every area
visit the parco nationale del lago trasimeno
if it's hot & you need an escape, there's a small beach here and a couple of restaurants!
enjoy the food
the restaurants in tuscany are some of the absolute best and the prices are so reasonable
aka gelato...
